What's the hive-mind opinion on these?

Auto Saver Systems Corrosion Control Device

I have two data points:

2001 Saturn, six years on upstate New York then Arizona after that.  Rust was minimal.  Most fasteners had only mild surface corrosion or none at all.  No stuck bolts.

2006 Toyota Camry; I think it's been in upstate New York its' whole life.  I haven't done a major inspection on it but body and mechanicals appear mostly intact.  There is minor rust apparent but no flaky stuff and certainly no penetration.

I didn't give much credence to the Saturn since it spent so much time in Arizona.  But the Camry got me wondering maybe it's not just snake oil.  Now that my cars live in Ohio where they salt like McDonald's this could be a good thing.

Any experience or wisdom?

Those types of things are typically useless.  I did a quick look online and found a number of complaints about that product on various web boards and on better business bureau sites.

Back in the day, I had a 1984 Thunderbird with a Rust Evader. It was a control box and 2 doodads that were glued to the A pillars. For years, there was a spot in front of the rear wheel opening on each side that was blasted clean, but no rust. I started not paying attention to it.  A while later, there was a big hole there. I looked at the Rust Evader, and the fuse holder had broken, and it hadn't worked in a while, so all the bare spots on the car rusted.

The company was local, and I was told that Mercedes put them out of business for patent infringement.
