Are small pick ups like ford rangers aloud to compete in autocross?

Google drivabeater.

Look for the s10 version. Enjoy.

The short answer is yes, and you can hpde them too on a challenge budget.

Yep, you can have some fun in a small pickup, and even in a not so small one. This was my substitute CP ride while building the Camaro.

If you're good at welding and have access to tubing...

Now that would be a fun truck to autox. Love it.

It's how I got started. 1994 Toyota 2wd Pickup. Did my first track days in it also.

You can even autocross a suv. Then, it would truly be a sport utility vehicle.

But they will probably measure a full sized truck/suv to make sure it's not too tall.

I remember that truck from the RIT Autox's and outside the Formula shop.

I dream about it now. It'd be a great commuter for me with some weekend run to homedepot for light duty stuff vehicle. I do lust over that little hilux.

berkeleyING MEAN.

Anyone have any info on the truck itself, the engine, etc? I don't care what you do to the suspension, I don't see a 3.0 doing ANYTHING.

There was a Titan at an autocross I went to. Definitely interesting to watch it drive the course!

That is a really well developed truck...remember seeing a video of it on the Drive channel, which I'm leaving here:

The 500 AWHP, AWD, Hillclimbing, Psycho Syclone - /TUNED

I enjoyed autocrossing and going to Evolution Autocross school in my Tacoma (with Anne and Andy Hollis as my instructors)... ran quicker than about 1/2 of the entries in the Houston area for a while and was the fastest truck. Felt really sorry for the Ford Lightnings that ran, they are just too big and heavy for their own good, they could maybe get within 3 seconds of my runs. It was just my daily driver with a sway bar in the front and back and decent tires, oh and a nice exhaust system (for a 4 cylinder)...

We have a novice who runs a Sonoma with a 350 crate engine in it. He built it for drag racing but somehow showed up at our first event this season and got hooked. It had almost-pizzacutters on the front for the first few autoxes but last Saturday he showed up with a nice fat square setup on it, and some hefty new swaybars. It actually looks like a lot of fun to drive.

Was that Bruce? And was he running with a guy in a '65 Valiant?

I'm forever seeing late 80's Rangers with Turbocoupe motors in them. If I weren't doing the Miata thing I'd probably AutoX something like that.

I started autocrossing in a 97 Nissan. It (me) wasn't fast but it was fun. That was about the same time there was an older Toyota P/U consistently in the FSP trophies at nationals.

I won't let anything bigger than a Ranger compete in my events unless it's a purpose built vehicle. We do have a couple guys in converted roundy-round trucks that come play when they're not hillclimbing.
