I haven't bought a car for awhile and was feeling the itch. Today I was refreshing CL every few minutes with the price parameters on cheap to see what would turn up.
I saw an ad pop up for a 92 Eagle Summit with a 5-speed manual and a bad brake line. No pictures but it said it was a hatchback. Since it was only 5 minutes from my house I called the seller and drove over. Turns out he was selling it for his father who is 94 and doesn't drive much anymore.
Towed it home with the Volvo and took some pictures. Not bad entertainment for $300. It runs great, just need to find the hole in the brake line and run some new lines.
That's a pretty good buy.
Reminds me of the Dodge Colt we used to have, unfortunately that one was an automatic. It was fun, but I really did not like those seat belts.
In reply to EastCoastMojo:
My '94 Escort GT had those belts. I distinctly remember being in the drive-through once and dropping my change on the ground, then instinctively - while my head was still out the window peering downward - opening to door to recover it, only to be strangled by the berkeleying seat belt!
Oh and that is one clean Eagle!
The best part is the sliding side door and the awesome cloth seats.
And only 127k miles, minor rust on the rockers but not bad.
You just don't see those very much anymore, come to think of it I didn't see very many when they were new. Nice find for the money.
It was the Scion Xa about 15 yrs too soon.
That thing looks like it will tip over given any provocation.
1.8L or 2.4L ?? Awesome either way for $300.
2.4L is an easy one to turbo if you feel the urge.
Don't know which engine, it's a 16 valve.
Sweet little ride. Nice score.
i love those things so cool
D is the Vin code for the 1.8L (4g93 shared with the rest of the CSM lineup) and the W is the 2.4L (4g64) That is shared with the Galant and you can get a 4G63T turbo exhaust manifold to fit.
The transmission out of the 1.8L have the highest final drive ratio that they ever offered. 4.592 I used one of those in My FSP summit coupe I built.

RALLYCROSS IT!
It might rollover...
It'll be okay as long as you're the first car out and there are a whole bunch of cars waiting behind you.
I was always surprised that they didn't sell a gazillion of these things. They seemed like such a good idea at the time. I think they were killed off by early SUVs.
