Several Studebaker models were offered with the R-2 supercharged engine as an option. To answer your question, yes, it was an option.

If I could go back to 1963, I would special order an R2 package on 1964 Wagonaire.

I think the Avanti ranks with the '63 Corvette split window and the '63 Riviera as the best looking on all '60s American iron. Raymond Loewey and Bill Mitchell were geniuses.
