So, I'm thinking about buying another Baja Bug to use for the 201X Challenge and Auto. To meet the requirements of both, can I leave it as a Baja or do I need to return it to a full bodied car. The print has not been completely converted but the fenders have need trimmed. So, if I need to make it a full bodied car, the back is the problem area.
Thanks.
BTW, it is a former dirt track car.
If you don't out can't use it, I have a friend who may be interested in it.
I have no idea but it would sure be cool if it works out. I love Baja Bugs.
My wife said "Whatever want to do"and ment it. So, now I'm waiting to hear back from the guy who has it.
Yep even after the event if you want to get rid of it, keep me informed.
We'll get an official ruling from Per, but Baja bugs are pretty darn cool.
I thought since they were designed pre war, it would be find with the fenders and like removed. I mean look at the "Bug" from this year.
In reply to 93EXCivic:
The concern is, more them just the fenders are removed.
But, they ate fun

INSERT David finding Per:
INSERT David saying something on the order of: "One of our forum members wants to run a Baja Bug in the Challenge"
INSERT Per saying something to the effect of: "DAMN THAT'S COOL!"
INSERT David saying: "I KNOW! THAT'S WHAT I SAID!!!!"
INSERT Per finding computer, finding thread:

Great Thanks. now if the guy will email me back. there is no phone number in the add.
Here are some hotlinks from the add,
it is missing more than fenders. you're gonna need a motor. Just FYI.
That add say the engine comes with the car...some assembly required.
I would have personally considered that a full-bodied car anyways...
The panels are present. They're MODIFIED, but they're there.
Looks like at most, it's missing a bumper.

That's not a missing engine.. that's added lightness
In reply to 92CelicaHalfTrac:
The rear has been cut for the baja kit.
The front fenders have been cut down, but the nose appears to be uncut.

Ohhhh boy, that's like hearing..............we have to talk.
Isn't that a Super Beetle? I didn't even think they made Baja stuff for them.
Looks Awesome to me but what do I know. I have a bug here that is still in the budget too, just hadn't thought of using it for the challenge. Hmmmm naughty ideas.
In reply to Woody:
There is a Baja kit available. The front is just fenders and a somewhat modified nose. Supers are not the best choice for off road.
In reply to LopRacer:
Do it. We can start an unofficial air cooled class.
In reply to Feedyurhed:
I'm thinking of it as a learning experience.

nope. the struts do not take the pounding the torsion bar suspension can.
Supers are better on the road than the standard beetle though
