given the very pedestrian AWD system in these vehicles, I would expect the results are underwhelming
I've known some 2wd trucks to get into some pretty crazy situations, and given that FWD vehicles usually get more traction from their two drive wheels on slippery surfaces than a RWD does, im tempted to think that ANY kind of 'pedestrian' awd system could get a car with ground clearance pretty damn far. I'd be more worried about 'un defeatable' (hah, fuses anyone?) traction control or whether important components are flapping in the breeze down there, than about what AWD system a car has.
