I watched Tuesday evening and felt that they may have had a slightly better selection than the past few years........ it wasn't just one Mustang/Camaro/GTO/Corvette after another, although there were still a lot of them. Looking forward to the Packards, Dusie and other 30s/40s/50s American iron scheduled to cross the block later this week.

That's the only thing I don't like about Barrett Jackson these days. It's a lot of the same type cars one after the other. I miss seeing the original cars from the 30's-50's or other classic cars, instead of just muscle cars. In BJs defense though, it makes sense why they have mostly muscle cars. The buyers were probably 15-25 years old in the muscle car era and couldn't afford the cars then. Now they've got the money and want to get the car of their teenage dreams.

One thing I do like about the BJ auctions (other than some killer cars) is none of the cars have a reserve.

What absolutely irritates me to the point of rage about these mega auctions is the noise level. Auction chatter is dumb, but it is to be expected. It keeps people confused and interested and drives the prices up, but the screaming and shouting and whistling and jumping up and down that goes on renders it completely unwatchable to me.

I actually enjoy watching the auction bits on chasing classic cars where they have the nice subdued british gents speaking clearly, describing the cars and repeating numbers that are actually related to the current bid on the cars.

I know, I know. The Mecum/BJ chatter is part of an american tradition but it isn't like it is a good tradition, and with the guys working the crowd screaming as loud as they can manage it just makes me change the channel no matter how cool the cars are.

I went to Florida last year - being there live is so much different than watching it on TV. If you are a car guy, you should go at least once for the experience. I'm going again.
