Battery/charging system tester

What is a good battery/charging system tester for home use? And not something that will cost $500 either... The reason I ask is because my wife's Maxima was giving me a fit a few weeks ago and out of desperation I threw some parts at it... I guess I should have gone to Advanced or AZ and had a free check... But noooooo. I KNEW the battery was not bad... (so much for that...)

Battery charger and a multi-meter (with amp clamp). That's all you need.

Make sure 1st time you use it your outside and there is wind. It smokes off the smelly paint...Stinky stinky stinky but after that works great.
