Just stumbled across this. A new, Mexican designed and produced, sports car. Turbo 4? Looks pretty darn cool to me. Anyone know anything about this thing?

Looks a bit 'Elise meets Smart Roadster', and sounds like it might be a competitor to the new FF WRX kit. I like it!
In reply to dyintorace:
Never heard of it. The link you posted says it has a mid mounted Duratec, 5 speed with 250hp and 250 lb/ft torque. Should be fast enough to have some fun with.

Mastrettadesign Tecnoidea SA de CV (or simply Mastretta) is a Mexican car maker and design studio established by Mexican industrial designer Daniel Mastretta in Mexico City in 1987. Mastretta under Tecnoidea and Unidiseño brands has previously developed a small number of kit cars, but the 2010 MXT is the first fully self developed car [......] it was designed as a market competitor for the Lotus Elise.
Looks better from the back

The MXT is produced beginning 2011 at Mastretta's first car factory with an annual production of 150 units. Around 70% (105 cars) will be exported to Europe and the United States, and 45 will remain for national sales (only in Mexico). [edit]Origin Prices will be around 55,000 to 60,000 USD and the equivalent in Euros and UK Pounds. There is no information about the price for Mexican consumers, but it's estimated to reach 600,000 to 700,000 Mexican pesos. Sales will begin in early 2011 in the United Kingdom and México, with other international destinations to follow.[5] The Mastretta Orange is said to be the official color, but many others will be available.

Yup. I got kinda excited about seeing a Maserati and Isetta combined but that car is pretty wicked.
I like the looks of it and the specs sound interesting. It does list a Duratec, but also mentions a turbo and IC. Mostly likely means it will be quite tunable. Let's hope that our old friend depreciation works quickly on these!
I heard that all of the imports to the US will be carried across the Rio Grande in the middle of the night.

I think what you meant you heard was all of the imports will be carrying illegals across in the middle of the night
And for a limited time, a FREE MESSICAN with purchase!
Seriously, guys?
Sometimes I'm embarrassed to be here.
Not usually. Usually a great forum, way above the standards of Teh Internetz. But sometimes...

can you make sure she is cute?
Isn't this the car that Top Gear UK's discussion about got the Mexican Ambassador to complain to the BBC?
If you watch this video, you can see most of the comments by the Top Gear guys, along with a lot of comedians saying they're not funny.

I'm sorry, please wait while we redirect your inquiry to Bob in India...
No me gusta. I really dislike the front and headlights. It looks like something off of a Burnout game.
An article printed in the local paper (remember those?) quoted the CEO or somebody saying it was intended to "compete with high end sports cars" and that it was a "giant killer," capable of beating Corvettes. Since it costs more than a base Corvette, I would hope so!
Neat car, though. I wish them luck.
Wow, do I ever like that. Also, with that bodyline going down the side it is BEGGING for a sexy 2-tone paint scheme. I'll take mine in black & bronze kaythxbye.

Ahh, british comedians, what a bunch of vaginas.
Muy Feo!
Parece un accidente entre un Mustang y un Elise. Pero, para conducir? Tal vez sera mas bueno?

9% hispanic population in Portland? Just wait. It'll all make sense in a few years.
Anyway, Holy crap, that thing's sexy!
When I read the heading I figured (Austin/MG) Maestro "married" to a Chevy Beretta.
If you don't know what a Austin Maestro is, think a British Leyland "answer" to a 1st gen. Chevy Cavalier. A very boring/run-of-the-mill hatchback sedan, that admittedly was livened up with it's optional turbo engine.

Uh, that's an average throughout the year and is based on the ones that are legal, it picks up considerably during the spring/summer months for the berry/fruit harvests.
Still, the "joke" is in bad taste. Would the joke still work if another race and stereotype were swapped in?
The Top Gear bit on the thing was not funny. It was funny when I used to watch Speedy Gonzales when I was a kid and had the mental capability of, well, a small child.
The elephant's in the room. You can't ignore it so talk about it. So far the jokes have been tasteful, if not a little juvenile.
And I still like Speedy Gonzalez. It's a cartoon for crying out loud!

Or he could just take a trip a few miles south to Salem
BTW wiki has salem at 14% hispanic, by my estimates that % is way low! they must only be counting the ones here legally.
Car looks ok but i'm not sure i would pay that much for mexican build quality. and Yes my last two company cars were built in mexico and have bad build quality. so i do know what im talking about.
