I was waiting to see if someone would post this.
I'm pretty certain the studies aren't talking about drivers of 25+ year old BMWs though :)

It didn't say - but I am kind of an shiny happy person when I'm not in a paddock so it's probably accurate anyway.

Hey! Mine is only 9!
Mine are 10, 23 and 19 but... I am an shiny happy person and if I bought a new one it would not lessen my assholiness. Not the kind of shiny happy person that cuts you off in traffic, mind you, but the one who might slap the cell phone out of your hand in a grocery store or tell you why you might not be the right spokesperson to complain about the size of an airplane seat.
Mine's 43. I think the WRX actually has a worse effect on my demeanor, but I'm guessing the study's talking about deep-down personal shininess and happiness, not automotively triggered...
Yep, can confirm, part of the problem. But I have my code, and try to only be shiny and happy when there's a good reason.
Okay, A reason.
It's just the opposite for pickup truck drivers, at least here in the Northeast. If you are in a truck, there is an expected courtesy among other pickup truck drivers. Makes getting out into traffic easier in a truck than if your driving a soccer mom vehicle.
One of the reasons I hesitated to buy one. But in the end the extreme amount of goodness in the car won out over the stigma. I don't regret that decision.
“In our crosswalk study, none of the cars in the beater-car category drove through the crosswalk. They always stopped for pedestrians," researcher Paul K. Piff told the paper. He added that not only were "fancy cars were less likely to stop," but also that "BMW drivers were the worst."
But what if your car is both a BMW and falls into the beater car category?
Owning a bmw myself... I really don't think it's the bmw or the owner that are jerks... I believe it's just that everything and everyone else are inferior.
