Anyone have any reccos on borescopes? I searched and the newest thread I found was from 2018. I don't want one of the wifi-only ones, as I'm often in a space without wifi. I'm not sure how I feel about having to pull my phone out when crawling around under a truck and such, so my inclination is for a self-contained unit that includes display. The ability to record to a thumb drive or something would be nice, as would the ability to connect to a laptop for a larger display.
I purchased a SKYBASIC Endoscope from Amazon. Was having a noise come from the heating/ac duct on our motor home I suspected was a loose piece of tape. Couldn't see it with flashlight and mirrors. With this unit with 16 foot cable was able to see it, dislodge and retrieve tape that was flapping making noise. Also used it down spark plus holes to check cylinder bores for scoring on engine I was considering rebuilding. I bought it because it was self contained and cheap at about $60. There are probably better units suited for automotive use and certainly units you can spend hundreds of dollars on. This had a clear picture was easy to use and served my purpose

Yeah, it's great, and a bit bewildering. Not to mention the helpful Q&A on Amazon ("will this work on my pet python?" - not kidding, this was a posted question).

Certainly hit the right price-point for me, and good enough to show me exactly how Berked-up the cylinder walls are on the project Porsche. Camera head is small enough to get into a spark plug hole.
