Totally in favor. I've been trying to get those clowns to drive my Chumpcar for a year now!
I just posted about this on Google+. Maybe those of you with facebook/twitter accounts could do the same.
Because the magazine staff wanted it that way. They like this idea. I do, too.
please do not come this year as my inconsiderate friend made his wedding the day of the challenge.
please come next year, or if you must please come every year henceforth.
PS Rut, if you read this i'm planning to tow next year's entry with an impala SS, so please create an entry of your own and use your roady wagon to tow it. then we could be B body buddies and get awesome t shirts and rings with special powers like the wonder twins.

I was the "inconsiderate friend" last year that caused most of Team External Combustion to stay in New England, so I know how you feel.
I welcome the TGUSA guys to come to the Challenge. I'd imagine that the top teams that come every year would destroy them if they fielded cars, but I'd like to see them try.
The Challenge has always been my favorite event involving cars for some time, and I can only imagine that national publicity on a larger scale would increase the popularity of the event, which is good for GRM and will have positive trickle-down effects for the rest of us.

If Tanner was restricted to a "build it the night before and slap v710s on it" car, yes, there are some GRMers (Nelsons, Hongs, Vorschlag guys) who would beat him. If he was given a seat in a fast car, I expect he'd do just fine keeping up with the fast guys.
[BTW, I emailed Rutledge. No response. ]

Thaaaaank yoooooou!
I think it would be fun. A bunch of you guys would probably get on TV. Some of you would get humiliated. The hosts will look like buffoons because that's their job. The magazine gets TV air time.
What's not to love?
[Wally, JG or Rut - not likely he's reading, but just in case - just let me know if you want me to take this picture down.]
I think it'd be awesome if they built something for the dance, maybe with an existing team pulling hand-holding duty. Seems like it'd be right up their alley.

Or... with each of them working with different teams and competing against each other, with the Stig being the impartial driver to remove the Foust-ringer possibility (although it might still be cool if he drove others' cars during the event). If nothing else, this would probably work better with their production schedule and ability to make lengthy commitments.
Each would pick a team, head over to the builder's place with a film crew and "join" the team and get in the way for a few hours and make silly suggestions about how to build the car. Afterwards, the "team" would go back to normal and everything would pick up again at the event.

+1.
Side note: Does anyone seriously think Tanner Foust or the Stig would beat Al McCrispin in the auto-x? I've got $100 on Al.
