Ive been texting him, he lives in NY now. It may be in his ginormous pile of papers in the storage unit with the car. He never transferred to his name. Aiming to clean the unit on around sept 21st. I wouldn't count on the title....

Ill run it by him, is that best you can do? Its got literally 2k+ worth of Lindsey parts that have less than 50 miles on them.

Buyer's market. Where else are you going to offload a non-titled, non-running, 944, in Washington? If he can find papers, we can talk a more appropriate value, otherwise it's a LeChump car that still needs a rollcage.
I'm interested regardless of the title issues, but the distance is the killer. I'll check shipping, but am not optimistic.
In reply to Javelin:
Totally understand, he's was hoping for a bit more. Still will keep on him for the totle.
In reply to Cotton:
Sounds good, it rolls, but a shipper won't be able to drive up to the storage unit, it's tight. But downhill to the main gate
In reply to java230:
That's either good news or bad news for me. The extra grand plus for shipping kills it.
So what's a storage unit rent for, $120/mo? It's been sitting there for how long? He'd probably be better off financially giving it away or spend a week with it parting it.

His current employer pays the rent on the storage unit... They moved him across the country, so it has all his other belongings in it as well. He could make a few bucks back if he parted it, but hes in NY, car is in Seattle.
My problem is that 3k miles of shipping plus cost of the car plus what it would take to get the title sorted makes it only worth it if it was free or dam near free.
This I sad because it sounds like a good driver quality car that you could have a ton of fun with but not worry about the parking lot dings and what not.
It's a shame this guy can't seem to be bothered, with a little cleanup a 951 is a heck of a fun car to drive. A rebuild is a lot more than TLC, but it's still something that could be saved...

Sounds like the owner is across the country from the car, so repairing the head gasket and getting a 951 that's been sitting for over 6 years going would be a large undertaking. He could hire it out, but he'd end up taking a loss I'm sure. I'd love to have it, but am very far away too....I'd love to have some of those parts though. He isn't paying storage, so may just be content to sit on it until his situation changes.
In reply to jsquared:
When we first built it it was every penny he had. When it blew it there were no funds to fix it. And it sat since...
Im sure he will eventually sell it, I doubt he will get it back together for himself. Its too bad since it was a HOOT when it ran. We did all the work in my garage together.... It was supposed to be a bit over 300 at the wheels IIRC.
In reply to Cotton:
If he ends up parting ill let you know. All the goodies only have a couple hundred if that miles on them.

Good to know! He was back in town but didn't have time to even look at it...
OK this is finally going to get drug out of storage..... Hes trying to find the title. Anyone still interested?
The price would have to be really right as I would have to have it shipped across the country. But yes. Interested.
