They're for real, I was looking at them myself. Toyota had an all-trac Camry, Corolla (OK, might be wrong with that one), and even that minivan, the Previa. I feel like I'm forgetting one or two.

For real, I own one, blew the motor last march rallying, and it's currently sitting waiting for a 3S-GTE.

Almost exclusively sold in those areas that see yearly snowfall.

They only imported them for three years, I believe '87-'89. All first year imports were 5-speed cars, automatics were introduced in the second year as an option.

Stock center diff was a limited slip unit with a defeat button that would "force" it to act like an open diff, optional was a lockable center diff (open, push button for lock). Mine has the latter.

Rear subframe assembly is identical to same-year Celica AllTrac, as is the transaxlefercase (to the best of my knowledge).

All Camry AllTracs came with 3S-FEs, except for a VERY small batch in Sweden or Norway that were equipped with the proper vintage Camry V6.

Toyota sold AWD Camrys beginning in late '88. AWD Corolla wagons starting in '88 and AWD Corolla sedans in '89. An AWD Tercel wagon was available from about '84 or '85 until about '88. The AWD Previa was available ...not sure, but it was available as late as the '97 model year. The Tercel was the only one to last more than 1 generation, the others usually "went away" in less than 3 years.

The Corollas and Tercels of which you speak were 4WD, not AWD.

Sorry I used the term AWD and 4WD interchangeably. Some folks get upset by this mis-use, and rightfully so. I promise never to post such an ignorant reply....ever again.

Yep they're pretty rare...There are all-trac Camrys and AE92 wagons, and in the JDM market there are even all-trac AE101~111 corolla sedans and wagons.

My family owned a number of AllTrac Camry's. The Canadian versions were labelled 4WD. Nice, though somewhat slow. All of ours had automatic transmissions, a manual would have been more fun. Still, I'd consider one a great supplement to the motorcycle, for the days when there's frozen crap on the ground.

It's my dream to grab a Corolla AllTrac Wagon and dump a nasty 3sgte in it....

And then go rally. And not car about the body. Which i couldn't do the same with a Celica alltrac.
