Thought it might be funny to make a list of car guy sayings, idioms, parables, whatever you want to call them that you've heard or come up with over the years.
Ill start with these two:
Being a car guy means having more cars than you'll ever need, but maybe not one to get you to work on monday morning.
and
The more cars I have the less grass I have to mow.
On second thought maybe this just makes me sound really white trash!

Its supposed to sound like that.
Can we make fun of car names? Cause I have a Fk'n wiki-load of funny car names.
Neophyte: How many cars do you own?
Car guy: That depends
(Dave Estey this is for you)
That'll buff out.
"That's one of those cars you wear", usually referring to sporty two seaters.
How about "stops on a dime and gives 9 cents change".
Why buy a new [insert reasonable new car here] when you could buy a used [insert obscenely complex luxury car here] for the same money?
If in doubt, stand on it!
Beat to fit, paint to match.
"The hot setup" Friend started using phrase when we were dirt track racing. I picked it up and it has spread to friends, family (even the non car person wife) and students over the years. It can be used in non automotive conversations as well such as "The hot setup would be ………". Grassroots Motorsports forums are the hot setup.
If you can't find 'em, grind 'em.

I always heard it as, when in doubt, flat out.
If it don't go, chrome it.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is!
Around our shop:
"You drive like an old lady on her way to church!"
"Hit it with your purse!" -used when the apprentice isn't hitting the balljoint splitter / pickle fork / drift hard enough to do anything.

"If you can't make it fast, make it loud..."
Being a former certified British Car mechanic, I have to mention, "Lucas electric, Lord of Darkness".
"I let the smoke out" or Don't let the smoke out" is one of my favorites.
Does" Found On the Road Dead" count? Fix Or Repair Daily"? Can you tell I grew up in a GM family? :D
"Better than factory", even though it probably isn't.

If it moves and it shouldn't, duct tape. If it doesn't and it should, wd40.
Also, when in doubt, get a bigger hammer.
Run what ya brung and hope ya brung enough.
Torque it down 'till it strips, then back it off half a turn.
