OK, I'm impressed.
The Spitfire spent last winter in the plastic shed sitting on a plastic bag. It worked, but the results were less than spectacular.
I looked at various storage methods, and chose to try using the carbag. This is not the silly one with a fan. This is essentially a giant zippered bag.
Now the guy who makes these giant bags assured me that mice would not get into it, that with the desicant the car would be pristine, that water really will not get into it.
I had my doubts, but figured I'd try it. So around November I drove the Spitfire into it, disconnected the battery, and stuffed it full of mothballs (I don't trust my mice, they are very determined). I forgot the desicant, and then never got around to placing it in there.
So today I unzipped the bag to see what was left of the Spitfire. It was perfect. It looked just like it did when I drove it in last fall. I connected the battery, started it up and drove it out.
It was sitting in a puddle, but the water never leaked into the bag. There were stored nuts and such under the bag, but the rodents never bothered with the bag.
To say I am impressed would be to put it mildly. That bag worked perfectly.
Even more astonishing, the bag wiped clean and folded back up quite easiy and compactly.
If you've been wintering your treasures in a dirt floored shed or such like I've been doing, I really recommend you look into a carbag for winter storage.
