So I finally got a chance to leave work before 7pm this past Friday night, which gave me an opportunity to head down to this new racing venue here in Central Florida. One of my co-workers had also never been in an American V8 muscle car, so I busted out the Trans Am minus the wing and with some body panels sanded/scuffed. Friday nights at the Central Florida road course are dedicated to drifting on one part of the course and what they call "The Crooked Drags." These drags are more like an autox, with two cars going at once on mirrored courses. If you have beef with someone, want to show someone up, or just want to go out to have some fun this is a great opportunity for one to do so. It's also a great chance for someone to get some seat time and practice for their next competitive autox event.
I had a great time at this facility, it's still new, still a bit unorganized, but they are providing a ton of people an opportunity to autocross, drift, or even get some seat time for an open track day. This place is really a grassroots style venue in my opinion. It doesn't cost much to go out and participate in any of the events they hold, which is great for us who have a budget and don't want to drop $300+ on a HPDE at Sebring.
The Trans Am could have performed a lot better, but I was and still am having some issues with my ABS. We think it could be the offset wheels and tires or something wrong with the module itself. I am going back out there again this weekend with the $2008 challenge Civic! Here is a short vid of me in the T/A vs. a DC2 Teggy..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4kgPbnuOig
