The C107 Merc does.
If you do a "learn me" thread on the XKR, I'll be watching with interest. It's described as a cushy car. Unfortunately, the look calls my name, even though my friends call it an old man car, and I want something light and sharp. It has more presence than just about anything I can think of under $10k.
My tools for the job are barracuda and MR2. I find the roads really smooth here but I moved from chicago so it's all relative.
Mustangs are a good tool. But if you are looking jag..XJR.

A lot of low mile choices in the 10Kish range
If you need some twisty roads in the west middle of Texas look up information on the Three Sisters.
I believe they are 336, 337 and 339 west of Bandera. I driven them but not in the proper car and they are a handfull in a good way. When you have to pay attention to steering wheel hand placement it is a good thing. Really pretty area too.
Looks promising! Thank you
Looks to be about 180 miles from me. I'll have to check it out one weekend when I have nothing going on.
Where are you at? There are a ton of good roads out there. Just head west. All over the hill country you will find fun roads. I exercise the MR2 out there all of the time.
I actually drove through hill country a little over a month ago. I went from Austin to San Antonio via Lukenbach. It's some really pretty country. Lots of wineries, though sadly, those don't work well with a driving vacay or weekend.
You know what sucks about the Texas hill country? Bikers!!
Unfortunately the texas hill country is rife with people on big cruisers ruining your fun. I mean, i understand you cant turn that thing worth a E36 M3 without falling over and dying and you've still got 15 years of lifespan left to live for, but some of us want to go faster.
Make a detour on 470 and hit Mac N Ernie's Roadside Eatery. Their Cabrito burger is a amazing and the Ancho Chili Quild is really awesome as well. My wife loves the catfish.

Lost Maples is a great state park, you don't expect those trees in this part of Texas.

And motorhomes and old pickups. I find it pretty difficult to go any distance without getting stuck behind somebody. I'm not even speeding, just not slowing down for the corners.
Yeah....Bikers suck. I mean is it really the biker spirit any more when their bike has bluetooth and navigation. But I digress.
When I really want to go and play, I try to do it either on a monday or tuesday or I hit the really back roads where you are more likely to hit a cow than to see traffic.

I don't particularly like four doors anyway. I need room for the wife, our six year old and myself.
I really am liking the Jag option. Hell I believe I could even live with the regular XK8 although I am a geek over "special" cars. You know anything with a "R" or "S" badge, even if it's only a tape and sticker package. I'm kinda digging the idea of a convertible as well, I don't know how many times over the years the family and I have been out tooling around the country side and I've turned to my wife and said this would be more fun in a convertible. Especially on those perfect days.
