So I'm a moron. In the mad rush to make my car run, I kinda neglected to book a hotel room. Guess what, the host hotel is booked. Is there any other hotels close to the challenge hotel? Any hotels that other challengers are staying at? I'd like to be as close as possible to the host hotel.
Did you call them directly? When I went to book my room I tried online and it said there were no rooms available. I then called the hotel and got my room.
When was that? I just called this morning and they said they were booked. She didn't actually look it up, but she said she looked it up earlier for someone else and remembered that weekend being booked.

I waited until really late also (last Thursday). I was lucky enough that they still had a room for Thursday night, but not Friday. The closest that I could find was a La Quinta one exit south, but it looks to be a couple miles away. Heres the contact info:
La Quinta: Inn & Suites
920 NW 69th Ter, Gainesville, FL
(352) 332-6466
If you find something closer let me know. I'd be willing to move to hang out with fellow challengers.
My bro and I are staying at the La Quinta. Those hotels are typically really well run, clean, and efficient. Free wifi as well. I figure I'll hang at the host motel for the beer drinking and antics. Then, I'll retire to the countryside and avoid engines revv'ing into the night and the pyrotechnics.
I went with La Quita also its looking like being the back up hotel
It's not far from the host hotel (exit 390) to the La Quinta (exit 387).
Plus, there is a most excellent Mexican restaurant and most excellent Asian restaurant DIRECTLY across the street from the La Quinta.
La Fiesta and Mr. Han's. Both are very, very good.
I think the LaQuinta was the host hotel 3 years ago IIRC. There's a Waffle House within drunken staggering distance, which is nice. Is Colleen coming again? If so, you guys can crash in our room.
Cory - I'm not going to be using my room. PM me your full name and I'll change me reservation to your name.

Did anyone else book a room and are not going to make it?
I dont really wont to sat at the Newbarry In.
I will go to La Fiesta with anyone with the balls to eat their super-spicy chili burrito. I've never had to eat a mouthful of sour cream to calm down my taste buds before eating it.
i haven't a clue where we are staying, ill leave my personal belongings and father at the hotel. I'll be hanging out at my old stomping grounds (Gator City) for the most part at night to watch some college football. Hopefully the Gators won't blow another one this week. I do think we have a room at the host hotel though for some reason. I will have a 19inch HDTV at the challenge to watch some football on saturday if anyone is interested. To bad speed isn't broadcast over the air so we could watch some of the Petit le mans.
Do what folks do nowadays for tailgating...bring a Dish/Direct TV set up and enjoy all the benefits of cable in the parking lot.

Yea, good news and bad news on that. Bad news is that it is indeed booked solid. The good news is that it's booked solid with Challenge competitors. We've got 58 entries as of today!
Per
i would love to do that but yea i can't afford that. I would love it for tail gating, the rolex 24, and sebring, but just not feasible on my collegiate budget.
