I replaced an AC compressor and when to vacuum the system. I have a definite leak as it loses vacuum as soon as the pump is off. I can hear a hiss where the lines (I replaced the o-rings) go into the firewall and toward the evap.

I was going to put a little freon in with UV dye, but before I started I turned on the UV light and I've got spatter and glow on both hoses. Is there a solvent that I can use to clean them up so that I can see a new leak?

Also, when there is a vacuum leak say on the intake manifold you can spray solvent and find the leak when the idle smooths out. Can you do the same sort of thing to the ac system?
