So I was putting new shocks on the Civic and broke the lower bolts. After I lot of running around looking for a M10x1.25 90mm long bolt, I ordered some from McMaster but they got in and I realized they are Class 8.8. I can't find these bolts locally at all. Am I screwed or can I use class 8.8s for that?

Or I found 100mm class 10.9 long bolts and I could stack 3 class 10.9 washers. Or I could use an 80mm class 10.9 but that would leave threads in the bushing...

I wouldn't be horrified to use the 8.8's. The 80's are too short.

The shock bolts were just marked 10 not 10.9 so I have no idea if they were 10.9 or if that was just some marking Honda used.

they will work fine for shock bolts.

Typical OE suspension bolts are 8.8, why are you concerned about it, taking it off some sweet jumps? That's a shear strength around 8000lbs for a M10, in single shear, almost double that for double shear. Should be adequate for a shock absorber on a 1800lb car.

8.8 bolts are tested to 640 MPa (megapascals) or 92,800 ft. lbs.

What's this Honda weigh anyway?
