so the wheels on my f250 are super dirty with years of brake dust and after i clean them i am wanting to paint them but im having a hard time deciding on what color would look good with the blue on silver body. So far im pretty much against doing black. I think a good dark gray/metallic would look good or maybe bronze? I figured you guys could help me out with your opinions.

here is the truck in question: photo 55D7987E-71F9-456E-8683-A6D1BC234F26.jpg

Whats wrong with black?

I think bronze would be too car ish if that makes sense. Grey would be good.

Charcoal is the answer. Then paint the non-chrome parts of the grille to match and tie it together.

There's too much silver/chrome there for bronze to look right I think. If you had the grille, bumpers and lower part of the body dark blue to match the top, I can see bronze wheels looking decent, but otherwise it would just be too many different things happening.

Silver is always a good choice since that resembles an aluminum wheel.

I assume they are alloys, why paint them?

In reply to STM317: i think you are right with to many things going on if they were bronze, and like java230 said its to 'car-ish'.

and im not a fan of black wheels unless it has big open spokes, otherwise i feel like they get lost in the tire with everything being black, needs a little contrast.

I found some graphite wheel paint at Oriellys that may be what im looking for.

next questions is whats good to use to clean brake dust? simple green and pressure washer?

I'm not a fan of black wheels, I think it's overdone these days. It makes the wheels look dirty all the time.

99 out of 100 black wheels look crappy. shine them up and call it a day. actually the photo from eddizzie89 looks decent.

This is the correct color for truck wheels:

My F-250 looks jam up when I spend the time to really cleanup the OEM factory alloy phone dials (same as yours).

Unfortunately, I rarely clean then.

Last time I did them, I took them off the truck, cleaned them with an aluminum cleaner, then lightly wire wheeled them with a fine wire wheel, then clear coated them. They looked totally kick-azz, and lasted a really long time.
