This is what a WRX should look like

Most people who don't buy Subarus don't do so because of the looks lol!
What Subaru needs is Bob Lutz. Remember ol Bob? Remember one of the first things he did? He got rid of all the body cladding plastic crap that Pontiac had on their cars, which really helped Pontiacs look alot better, enough for them to sell more.... wait a minute... my argument is starting to fall apart...
And let me add this... If Subaru wants to give me a WRX for at least a year and if the looks start to grow on me, I will make note of it on this website and retract the whole thing...
didnt read the thread but the new car is ugly! my .02.
At least they didnt butcher the looks as bad as the Legacy's.....
Jeez...who knew that a car company could put out a car with 280hp stock (look at dynos, they're under-rated at 265), AWD, a decent suspension, stout chassis, and easy upgradeability.....and all for $25k or so.......
.....And then all the so-called "grassroots motorsports" guys would complain in multiple threads about how it's "ugly"
Meanwhile, half of said complainers here probably drive a car that looks like a slightly-used bar of soap with big pop-up headlights.....
And people on this forum calling any car ugly is the ultimate irony. Because there are alot of ugly cars on here. ALOT of them. Because this place is about go...not show. Or so I thought.

Oh we know its ugly, kinda like how the we know the Viper has a cheap feeling interior. That doesn't mean we don't lust after/own one(WRX). Hell, I desperately want a CTS-V, and THAT ugly bastard make the Subie's lines seem graceful.
It may be ugly but I'd still rock it!!!
Just wish there was a choice of rear wings. I'm an old geezer and don't care to advertise that much like that rear wing does. I know, STI trademark but let me have it plain without wing or just the smaller WRX wing.

Well put. The forum about ugly is complaining about ugly.
More STI goodness:

My favorite Impreza is still the original GC8 body. However, every time a new Impreza is released I think it is butt ugly. But after a year or two a funny thing happens, they start to grow on me. With the newest incarnation I still hate the wagon, but the sedan has really grown on me...especially now that they are doing the widebody sedan!

There's a guy with a one at a local shop, black, fender flares and Enkei RPF1's. I (heart) that car.
I think the difference is that you don't mind ugly so much when it costs you $2500. When you're paying $25,000 though, the ugliness becomes harder to tolerate.

None of that means that it's not ugly. We're not saying it's the worst car ever, just ugly.

We almost bought a new Outback for my wife last month, but we hated the interior.
It is just SOOO right.
Honestly I don't mind quite a bit of the body sculpting on the newer ones, but holy E36 M3 guys - put on a normal looking set of headlights. That would do wonders for them. Cars have faces. Every impreza since '02 has been a buttaface.
Friend of mine recently acquired a GC8 STi Type R. Full RHD, fresh off the boat. Gotta love the cheese in MN laws.... makes it REAL easy to poke holes in. (it's currently titled as a kit car. Or a hotrod. I forget which)

Cheap...excuse me... inexpensive but ugly cars: Good.
Expensive (anything over $2,000 lol) ugly cars: Bad
yep...the 2.5rs coupes from the late 90s are litterally what opened my eyes to the idea that compact cars, daily cars, lowbuck cars etc could be sports cars. Until then I never really challenged conventional thought. until then I had thought a "real sports car" was a Buick GNX or a WS6 firebird or a turbo porsche or some other high dollar machine. I was a sophmore in college when i began to nictice a particular car every day.
I had a buddy who rented a room a block from campus, and I would often hang out there and play video games or just chill out between classes. A guy who lived next to my buddies building always had his dark blue RS parked outside, and whenever he started it up, the fart cannon sounded "different" than all the ricey civics around town. It was cool looking, cool sounding and apparently affordable on a college students budget. That kinda helped me realize you dont have to be a zomgmillionaire to own a decent sports car and also enjoy it everyday.
...and its all been downhill since then
