Street Touring as long as they weigh at least 25 pounds.

This. "The seat, including mounting hardware, must weigh at least 25 pounds and must be attached using the OE body mounting holes/studs. Additional mounting points may be added."

Nothing would stop you from using an aluminum racing seat with a cover and a 10 lb. ballast/washer/thingy.

I just dont want one modification to be the only thing to jump me into a different class. I really just want to try/do autox for experience and learn more about car control, but on the other hand I am also very competitive. I have to go on the fine line of building a stock class rallyx car and autox car, im wondering of I should just mod the car per rallyx and just run whatever class they put me in for autox, sorry for the long post just trying to figure it all out(I haven't even tried autox yet, dunno how much I will like it) just did first rallyx and some of the most fun I have ever had!

If you want to win in a well-represented class, unfortunately you need to build to the rules.

If you want to do both rally-x and auto-x you'll probably need to pick one or the other to be competitive and build to the rules of whichever you pick. Rally-x generally has fewer classes with less rules so if you want a little more freedom to toss on upgrades as you find good deals, that might be a better way to go.

BTW, I saw in your profile that you have lowering springs to run on the car for auto-x those are going to put you into street touring anyway.

Put in the seats you like its your car! Enjoy the ride! No one is going to care what seat is in your car, if its not a lighter racing seat. If you think there is an A hole at your event put a cover over it.

I can't speak for anyone else, but our local group doesn't give a flying berkeley how you say you're classed until you start winning. Just get out there and drive.

What you need most at this stage is track time, and not worry too much about results.

Its a good idea to try and stay in a stock class if you can. Your Vibe is going to help you develop basic skills, but you should be outdriving your car's capabilities in just a few events, so I wouldn't put much money into it for autocross.

Instead of new seats, get one of those inexpensive clips that attaches to your shoulder harness so you can lock yourself into position. GC Lock is the racing version, while Evenflo sells a much less expensive one (at Babies R Us) that some folks say works just as well.

To gauge your progress, dont just look at your finishing positions. Compare your time to a couple of the local hot shoes (in any class) as a percentage of their times. You'lll probably start out at 120% or so. In succeeding events that number should come down if you are improving.

Most of all, ask others for advice, and have fun.

Build a modified class rallycross car where anything goes and you can do whatever you want, and try to be competitive there - because in rallycross most any car can be competitive with the right setup and driver. And it's more fun.

Then just run whatever autocross class you fall in. Because in autocross unless you have "the right car for the class" in the first place, you won't win no matter how good you are (in most cases). And if you're running rallycross a lot, you may find yourself not wanting to do autocross as much anyhow (though some people do, that's just me).

Plus, building the car the way YOU want it is way better than having to drive a car all the time saying "damn I wish I could do xxxx mod that would make this car so much better/fun"

Just my 2 cents.
