I apologize for the blogspam, but hopefully this will find its way to someone. I figure there's got to be SOMEONE on this board that wants a job like this as much as I do. I would kill for this internship this summer, but I just can't do it.

I wish i didn't have an internship already grrr.
I've already got something set up for the summer but I may send an application anyhow.
I wonder if there is an age limit. I may have the summer free and have 4 credits toward my engineering degree floating around somewhere.
be careful what you wish for peeps..
You could be the bagel boy... As one of my buddies jobs at an engineering coop was to wash the fleet vehicles at the plant and get breakfast sandwiches for everyone. The name cosworth doesn't automatically indicate an awesome coop job.

You don't want that job.
There's a rather sizeable difference between Cosworth Engineering and Cosworth Racing. They are NOT the same company.
I have worked with Cosworth Engineering. You don't want that job.
Eric
Of course it had to be engineering. Marketing internships anyone? lol.
In this day and age, a lot of my contemporaries are taking internships at companies they have no interest in, simply to have an internship on the ol' resume.
What's wrong with Cosworth Engineering?

Truth. I did a summer internship last year at a metal slitting and pipe plant. Totally different from anything I had ever done before, and a nice little spot on the resume for something outside of the norm. Landed me some awesome references and contacts as well.

Outside of actually having a job, which is a good thing, Cosworth Engineering is basically a "for hire" company- much like Roush and quite a few others. I guess it's not a horrible job, but I've not been very impressed with the work we've gotten from them. And AFAIKT, they don't treat their employees all that great.
I guess if it's all you can get, and it's good experience, go for it. But use it to get jobs with the OEM's...
Again, DON'T mistake Cosworth Engineering with Cosworth Racing- they are far from the same thing.
Eric
Yeah, I wouldn't want to live in CA unless I had to. This is all hypothetical for me right now, but an internship like this would be as much for a name on a resume as anything else. Motorsports-related is always a plus.
This reads more aftermarket than motorsports. And sure reads like the turbo Miata that I know they've failed on once before.

I graduated from college with a degree in Mechanical Engineering without needing an internship/co-op, and while fresh out of college and looking for a job I was rejected once because I didnt have enough work experience for an entry level engineering position. My advice: take any crappy internship/co-op just so you don't have someone tell you the same thing. (It felt like a kick in the face, like I wasted 4.5 years and $20k and I was still not prepared for the real world. E36 M3 I'm getting pissed just thinking about it...)

I'll be sure and send you a resume this time next year, you sound well-conected.

You know I work for Ford, right?
I thought that was common knowledge here.
(and all I can do is forward it to HR, we do have a program for people fresh out of college, BTW- rotating assignments for 2 years- it's pretty cool)

The Ford College Graduate Program is pretty cool. If you can get into it, it's a good way to get a lot of exposure to a lot of different jobs, departments and people at Ford (you can even do a rotation with Ford Racing).

In reply to alfadriver:
If I didn't just get a job with Caterpillar, your email would have my resume. It still might.
One of the guys running our GRM team down here (he's become the psuedo-shop foreman) has an internship with Ford this summer. I didn't even bother applying for any internships this summer 'cause I've got to run our GRM Challenge team all summer.
This time next year, though, I'll be spamming my resume to everyone I know with automotive connections. I'd kill for a job with Ford.

no no no, those jobs are with Toyota.

naaa toyota is recruiting heavily from SAE Mini Baja.
Honda Research was doing it for years and Toyota got pissed so now they're dumping tons of money into the program.
If you want a job with Toyota go to RIT. They hire basically anyone on an SAE team from there.
I think he meant that killing Ford workers would net you a paycheck from Toyota.
or at least college credit.
no, i meant that killing people is toyota's job
ahh. THAT makes more sense.
Though, If Ford keeps taking sales records like they are, Toyota, Dodge and GM might be looking to hire trained assassins.

How the hell did they not get that....read a newspaper guys..lol
