Go with #2. If your going to call it crazy, around here it needs to actually be crazy!
Another vote for 2. The other two are almost resonable. The SHOmni would require a E36 M3 load of effort and fabrication to have an under-performing car that would struggle to finish mid-pack (if at all), and be absolutly worhtless after the event. EPIC.
two, cause m a mopar guy.
one would have to be done full on dirt track style, compete with radiused wheelwells and massive engine setback to be considered cool.
either would do it for me.
1 and 3 are what we call a simple/normal project around here. 2 might raise a few eyebrows. Welcome to the asylum.
My vote is number 3. It is not crazy by any means but it should garner you the highest finish. I think either of the first two options would be neat to see and memorable...
Apparently the original post was deleted, or disappeared...
Kind of a shame, actually, as I was hoping for option #42. An all-wheel-drive Miata powered by 4 snowmobile engines sounded intriguing.
In reply to Appleseed:
Mobile-app wonkiness, I think. Here was my list:
At the moment, I'm leaning toward the 68 Mustang idea because I got both the Mustang shell & the Monte Carlo chassis donor for free, and putting the old Ford on a GM chassis is so wrong it must be right. I could hybrid my ideas & stuff the Lincoln motor with supercharger in the resultant Mustang/G-body mongrel, too. Whichever thing I build, my first $200X Challenge car is going to be fun (and probably worthless when I'm done)
i vote for option 1(b): free '68 mustang on Corvair "pan" (Corvair is unibody). same 108" WB. corvair on G-body chassis has been done a bunch, i bet nobody's built either a G-body or a mustang with Corvair underneath.

Free 68 Mustang shell on a GM G-body chassis (both have 108" wheelbase!)with a fierce SBC for power 2. 84 Omni with a 99 300M drivetrain & front subframe welded in where the back seat was, for 300hp mid-engine hatchback goodness 3. SN95 Mustang with a DOHC Lincoln Mark 8 motor & a used supercharger/intake from an 03-04 Cobra

I'm not Andy, but given the challenge rules, I think you would be hard pressed to run a low 13, maybe a high 12 in non pea soup air. The mark8 motors just aren't as robust for the blower nor bolt on compatible.

From my experience if it's your first challenge go with option 1 to complete the build. Also start option 2 in parallel so you can run in after getting a feel for the challenge. I did an elaborate build that ended up taking 4 years on and off because I had the let me do something crazy idea and fabrication work takes time. BTW my car still wasn't right when running it and I can't wait to get it right in year 5 of the saga that is it's build.
