Not sure if the 2jzge will mate to your auto, but the Cressidas were available with a 5spd from the factory. IIRC it is the same unit used in the 82-85 Supras.

There was a 87 Cressida at a junkyard here in FL a couple of years ago with a manual.

If you are going to bother messing with the suspension and swapping the engine, why are you sticking with a slush box?

Nope, use the trans for the 2j and have a custom driveshaft made. There are bellhousings to bolt the r154 (the 5 speed mk3 turbo supra trans) to a jz.

You will be using the REAR SW20 strut inserts for the front of the Cressida. They are a bit longer than the front SW20's and a re valved a little better for the weight. I have been using a set of these on the front of my supra for about 4 years with no problems (KYB AGX). You will either need to make a spacer with washers or cut your stock strut tubes down though as they still are a bit shorter than the stock struts.

There are some tech articles on my site that you may find interesting. Mainly aimed at 2nd gens Supras but most of it crosses over to the MX.

thanks for clearing that that up for me, have you ever wondered about the t3 strut tube spacer sleeves for ae86 working in the front of the x7?
