I just learned something today. Cadillac's naming nomenclature.
CTS = Catera Touring Sedan
STS = Seville Touring Sedan
DTS = Deville Touring Sedan.
Yup, that's right. The most hated Caddy since the Cimeron is still around, we just call it by it's initials.
Interesting, but shouldn't that give us a CTW and CTC?

could always be Cimarron Touring Sedan
But for the cts chassis they fired all the remedial engineering flunkies that designed the earlier Catera. And hopefully everyone involved in the first one has been, if not killed, then severely beaten.
Those are the opinions of a person that is occasionally subjected to its engineering awfulness.
It's the Caddy that zigs.

Wait... the Catera was hated? That car was pretty sweet.
It was, and it wasn't even a Cadillac.
Neither was the Cimmaron, really
the Catera was an Opel Omega.. and it was a better Opel
As someone who worked in a gm dealer during the heyday of 6 month long warranty repairs of the catera, when the car was on the road it was pretty damn sweet. Always wished for a manual trans in it but if ALL the recall work was done the car was a good car

Agreed, but for a Cadillac, it was considered "horrible"
The CTS is also really freakin expensive now. $70k for a 2015 CTS V-sport with 420hp? Or $70k for the outgoing CTS-V with 556hp? That's a tough decision. Who knows what a CTS-V will cost if they develop one with this new gen.
I've thought about an LR4 swapped Catera.
In reply to mad_machine:
That says alot about the Opel Omega then...
yikes!
For the caddy they added fluid filled suspension bushings to make the ride less sporty than the Opel and more cushy. The bulk of the handling issues were due to them. Supposedly there are poly bushings out there, but I have never actually had a set in hand.
The other big issues with the Catera were due to dex-cool sludge (the Opel did not get dex-cool) and lack of what in Europe was considered routine maintenance on engine and trans.
