I must say in addition to being a pimp ride, the q45 did prove to be a better autocross car then a fiat 500 abarth.

90-97 Accord. That was my challenge plan until this crapbag Miata popped up.

I'm hoping to attend next year for the first time, and my plan is to find a 5spd 4th gen Maxima to DD and drive down there with my wife and son. Super reliable, parts grow on trees, cheap, great hwy MPG, surprisingly powerful, decent aftermarket...I could go on. I regret selling mine all the time, although it was an automatic. If you could find one cheap, a 5 or 5.5 gen would work too. Or an Infiniti I30 or I35.

That is an awfully specific year range.

I love the E36 M3 out of my MX-3... Its depending on what engine you start with, power can be easy to make and cheap!

I'll be the odd man out and say my DSM was excellent and very reliable up until the day I totaled it. I bought it used with 70k miles from the original owner, the turbo had been replaced under warranty, but that's the only major repair the car ever had. I totaled it at 180k and it was on it's original clutch! That was one of the most reliable cars I've even had.

I love me some 1gA DSM's. People just forget they're now old cars and need to be maintained more thoroughly.

I know of a VERY quick, reliable one for sale for $1500 locally if anyone interested.

Check $2014 classifieds.

The bad thing about "fun" cars from the 80s and 90s, specially ones with turbos, is that finding an unmolested one is nigh impossible. The hacked ones are unreliable and it shows the cars in a bad light. If you can find a car that is either unmodded or the same owner has owned the car for a long period and did many of the mods himself, you'll be ok most of the time. If you buy a car that's been through 7 owners in 2 years and most of them didn't really know what they were doing, you'll find quite a bit of questionable, dumb, and questionably dumb things going on.
