+1 more on those generals. I just put those on my wife's cars and love them so far, but we haven't gotten snow yet. But they have been flawless on the 1000 miles of interstate I have done on them since thursday(300 on thur, 700 on sat-mon)
Other recommendation, Kelly Snowtrakkers. I have sworn by the previous version for 10 winters now across 5 cars in the family fleet.

I wouldn't put a lot of money in winter tires. This global warming thing--once considered a leftist conspiracy--is for real. I doubt we'll see much snow south of the Arctic Circle this winter, and soon enough, precious little north of it.
Funny, the record cold temperatures and snowfall here in Washington and Oregon say you've been watching too much Al Gore...

I think he was joking... at least I hope so.
I've run Winterforces and iPikes on FWD cars in the past. In snow/slush, I prefered the Winterforces. In dry, I liked the iPikes a bit better. Both were a major improvement over all seasons. I seem to recall the Winterforces were better at getting moving when I was sitting on a hill in traffic. Since you're in Indy, I doubt you have the kind of hills that could cause this problem.
Based on others' opinions, I have Altimax Arctics on order for my wife's 6. I have some generic snows on the Legacy, can't remember what, mainly bought them for the 2-ply sidewall since the car sees rallycrossing during the summer months.
I should add that the only reason I just put a new set of i-Pike's on the 5 a few days ago was because the General doesn't make the Altimax in my size. We have the Altimax's on her Grand Prix and it's never been stuck (and we've had it through some nasty snowstorms every winter).

I am not sure what tires these have but I will tell you that I have personally sold the center caps off the BBS wheels for $80 each on ebay.
$250 for tires and rims.
$80 per cap = $320 back and you still have the usable rims (no caps) and tires.
Okay, some searching shows $35 being the current price on ebay. Mine were years ago but the finish on these are not that pretty.

So, $35 x 4 = $140 My guess is he is profiting $5 on shipping so that is another $20 or $160
If you negotiate and buy for $200 and get back $160 from ebay you could even scrap the aluminum for near $20 each and be at no cost for the tires.
What needs to be figured out is are these tires any good???
One Uniroyal Tigerpaw, one Republic m+s, and 2 BFG T/As.
I bet i could get them for $200 or less. All have 80% tread.
What think we, GRM?
Winter here is typically not bad, i just don't want to try to make it through with my Nexen/Toyo combo.
$200 for 3 different non-winter tires? Not just no, but hell no.
Go buy what you actually need...

I know, i know.... i'm sure it was obvious, but i was looking for a somewhat justifiable excuse to buy those BBSs for $200.
I am counting on global warming, front-wheel drive and all-season tires. I really want a winter beater!

I have picked up used Winterforces for $35 each that still had the nubs on them.
Get a matched set. At least have two of the same on each axle.
What do you deal the most with:
Ice - Blizzaks or X-Ice
Snow - Winterforce or I-Pikes
Mix - General Arctic Altimax or Hakka's
I'm glad I don't have to worry about snow tires here...
A CHALLENGER APPEARS!!!

You know Focus rims are 4 X 108 right?

Yeah. I've got 3 sets of wheels for this car, and only one has tires on them at the moment.
Also have a serious business tire changer in my garage that was purchased from Discount Tire when they were getting rid of "old" equipment. Has the hydraulic arm and everything!
I think i'm going to end up with those Winterforces for $150 + no cost for mounting. That would make me happy.

I think he's just after the tires
Edit: I'm slow
There you go!
Then sell the Focus steelies!

That must be why we got 8" of snow on Halloween in Maryland.
Just sealed the deal on the Winterforces for $150!
Picking them up tonite.

I've posted this several times on previous threads....Kelly, Pacemaker and others .... snow tracker tires
they really work and are quite.... this is their 3rd yr on the suby and they don't show much if any wear
I had Winterforce on my Liberty. They were good in snow but sucked on ice. Wear was good.

I paid $425 for new Winterforces mounted on my Volvo
Just spent a few hours driving in the utterly E36 M3ty weather picking up my tires and my buddy's tires.
1) Apparently i can fit 8 wheels and tires in the MX6.
2) These Winterforces are quite literally BRAND NEW.
3) The Nexen/Toyo combo wasn't actually that bad in up to 4" of slush. What WAS bad was that i started accumulating lots of snow on top of my crossmembers. Up to the point that i needed to worry about snow getting in my crank pulley area. Also: i plow everywhere. Low car is low. Might need to bolt some "custom fab" (read: scrap metal) skidplates to said crossmembers.
I am happy. Now i just have to finish painting my steelies safety yellow and i'm ready to rock!
