I gave Dad the book earlier this afternoon. As expected he cried, a lot. He has chosen St. Jude Children's Hospital as the charity he would like the proceeds from the shirts and stickers to go to.
Thank you to everyone who has purchased a shirt or stickers. The money raised will continue to go to charity, and photos will be added to the Dead Skunk Motorsports Facebook page.
I visited Dad on Monday afternoon and had a good long chat with him. I showed him the photos that have come in since the book was made and he was talking about how great all the GRM guys are.
I made the charitable donation in Dad's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital on July 1st. $364 from t-shirts and stickers, a large portion of which was from you guys here. Proceeds will continue to be donated as they come in.
He has continued to make improvements in physical therapy; walking further with the aid of a walker, climbing small steps, and a bunch of other tasks that were impossible when he first started. His white blood cell count has shown improvement, but without a bone marrow test, it's impossible to know if it's the leukemia subsiding or if the white cell injections he's getting help to boost that number. They won't do a bone marrow test until ALL his numbers are up; white, red, and hemoglobin.
He is about a month out from being released home (Medicare only covers so long for in-patient rehab), so you'll likely be seeing a lot more of him online soon.
Awesome, we're coming up at the beginning of august and if he's home by our time back i'll stop by and let him talk my ear off for as long as he needs to
My son took this a while back. I thought I posted it but obviously never hit the post button.
Edit: Not sure I have posted a photo of me here before. Well now you all get to see my ugly mug.
Completely stock as delivered in 2007 car. Needs a new ECM at the moment that I will be upgrading the mounting of to prevent a repeat of it failing. Other than that it is a great fun car to drive and hall stuff. Even though it is basically a GM car it has a enough Saab in it to make the driving experience really good.
It has the beginnings of the valve issues that plague these cars making it a sob to start in really cold weather. Other than that it has been a really good car. I would highly recommend.
