The current crop of domestic performance cars -- Demon, Hellcat, Corvette ZO6, Camaro ZL1, Cadillac CTS-V, Shelby Super Snake, Viper ACR, even the Model S -- are simply amazing. They reach levels of performance that are simply unprecedented, and do so at a price that's within reach of middle-market customers. We truly are living in a golden age of horsepower.

I have no idea what "middle market" is but honestly I find it hard to get excited about these cars considering some of them are creeping up on the price of my house. We might as well be talking about F40's and Bugatti's as in: never gonna be able to afford one. Ever.
As far as the Demon, I see it as a toy/investment for the rich guys that probably already have a fleet of some proper muscle cars.
It takes a rich guy to afford multi-million-dollar Ferrari or Bugatti. But ordinary people can get a loan for one of these cars through their dealership's finance department. Think about how many Suburbans and Escalades you see on the road. A Hellcat is about the price of a lightly optioned Suburban. A Z06 is the price of a lightly optioned Escalade. These cars are in the reach of ordinary people, not just Rich Guys who already have a feet of cars. If you can't afford one today, that's understandable. But ever? Used Z06s and CTS-Vs have already depreciated enough to be sought after by the GRM crowd.

The difference is, that $90k Escalade isn't just a toy. It gets driven like any regular vehicle. A regular Hellcat, or ZO6, or CTS-V is much more of an everyday car than the Demon, and that's more impressive to me personally. That is, it's less specialized, and more well rounded. The Demon only exists to go fast in short, straight lines. It has smaller brakes, less refinement, a softer suspension, and a lower top speed than a regular Hellcat. It's a purpose built toy. And the number of people out there that can spring $90k for a toy is quite a bit smaller than the number of people that can afford a $90k everyday car.
This is just nuts! What we can get for under $100,000 is ridiculous. Who knew we'd be this fast.

But, affording a 90k car is affording a 90k car. Doesnt matter if the car is a family baller hauler or a 9.65 second quarter mile Demon. That pool of people is the same in the sense of being able to afford $90,000 for a vehicle. Your last sentence makes no sense in my opinion. That's like saying the person who can buy a $5 dollar hotdog isnt in the same pool as someone who can afford a $5 hamburger...

Sorry if it's poorly written. Let me try and rephrase. I don't see a Demon being anybody's only car. I see Escalades, CTS-Vs, and regular Hellcats being the only car pretty regularly.
If you can afford $90k for an 'extra' car, then you're probably more than 'middle market', and would be considered pretty well off by the vast majority of Americans. I doubt that many people here can swing $90k for their play vehicle, and we have a pretty diverse cross section of the population here.
Now that made sense to me. Thanks

But then you go to a car show or the drag strip or an off road park or the track or an RV park and you realize there are a LOT of people that spend money on vehicles that spend the majority of the time sitting. The market is there. The car is incredible.
Remember, the car has to survive the delivery driver (many good stories), sales manager, sales people, PDI tech, and last but not least the clean up department. Sweet mother of God, many car's have meet their fate in less than 500 feet.
