I've done 1500 miles in the last 5 days and it gave me a lot of time to think about what I want in my next car. Then I couldn't think of the answer! It has to have all of the following:
- Be a 4-door sedan or 5-door wagon
- Rear wheel drive
- Manual transmission with a clutch pedal
- Be less than 25 years old.
- NOT MacPherson front suspension!
That last one is what's killing me, especially for anything that's not over 25 years old.
Any ideas?
Toyota Cressida.
Oh wait... that's a Toyota... do you need to add a 5th requirement?

Any big ol' '60s-70's Murican boat with a tranny swap?
Oops missed the 25 y.o. part..
Since your "not over 25 years old" comment isn't in the numbered points, I'm ignoring it.
Didn't you have all the bits and pieces for a T5 swap once?
LOL does torsion beam front suspension count?

Come on Ben, you should know by now that all RWD Toyotas get a pass from me.
In reply to Rob_Mopar:
Damn you.
And yes, I will now move the under-25 to an actual requirement...
So do you want a Tahoe, Astro, S10 Blazer, Cherokee, or Aerostar?
Or more like a Roadmaster, Impala, or Crown Vic. with a tranny swap?
Porsche Panamera. Hey you didn't give a price limit....
Other suggestions Maserati Quattroporte III or Alfa Romeo Milano or Jag XJ6 (don't know if that was available in the US with a manual or not).
Edit: IS300.
In reply to oldopelguy:
More like a BMW, but without the crappy front suspension.

Cadillac CTS-V
Hmm, that works, but it has about 7 too many zeroes for my bank account.
That did remind me of a certain unloved luxury car though, the Lincoln LS... Looks like it's not a McStrut, and the Jag S-Type is the same chassis. I know the LS came in the V6/manual, I wonder about the Jag...
There was a Jag s-type wagon with the manual! I have seen them but not many. It looked wonderful, but living with it might be bad.

Out of the ~2k Quattroporte IIIs made, like 5 of them had manual transmissions. The last year Milanos were sold here was 89, so yeah that would work :). I had a Milano as a dd for a couple of years, there are a few really annoying things about them, but they mostly arent too bad.
Something wrong with struts?
T56 swapped caprice/roadmaster?

Yes, everything. I'm tired of the horrific handling and feeling of them in FWD and RWD applications. They were designed to be cheap, not good.
I was amazed at how much better my berking Javelin steered than a new 911.

MacStruts.

According to this article, it is a double wishbone.
In reply to Javelin:
The S-Type had a V6 with manual from '00-'02 IIRC.
Well, keep in mind the new 911 has had nothing but horrible reviews about how they ruined the steering and got rid of the oversteer. Prior generations of 911 used struts and that's the winningest car of all time, I was under the impression that you could hit a dime in the road with a old 911 and tell if it were heads or tails.
540i Wagon. It's German, so it has Strebes instead of Struts!

I'm drawing a blank.
Porsche Cayenne for a V6 and 6 spd? MPG isn't great, though... 15c/22h. No idea if it's MacStrut or not either.
P71 with a diesel/manual conversion?
I can't think of any cars other than sports cars w/o struts made within the last 25 years.
In reply to 93EXCivic:
I'll be damned. Porsche puts crappy MacStruts in the Boxster and 911 and then puts wishbones in the automatic sedan?!?
