Whole hood is stuck closed. I took out the drivers side marker light to get at the hood cable.
Struggled with it a bit but finally managed to pull it and get the drivers side pin to release.
No matter what I do with the cable now, I can't seem to get the passengers side pin to release so I can completely open the hood.
Suggestions?
Take out the kidney on the passenger side and pull the release handle and see if it'll release that side. On the 525i I rebuilt, the latch had broke at the cable holder on the drivers side, it may have broke on yours also.
This is what it looked like and why it wouldn't open. If you can get it open you can probably just swap the one from the drivers side over to the passeneger side.

The cable for the passenger side piggybacks onto the driver's side latch.
and the kidneys are very easy to remove.. and if you break one, easy to replace
