I have seen at least one Feather Duster that was still the kind of thing that could be used for a project like that. Im sure at least some are still around. Of course if you could find any of the lightweight parts it would be legal to swap them onto something else too.

What I can do is put a 340 with 2.02 valves and manual-shift-profile cam in a 73 six cylinder light-weight Feather Duster as the SP rules say I can update and back date within a production series. This means that model years 68 thru 76 are fair game. I can swap whole engines, but I cannot swap internal parts to create an engine which was never available from the factory.
Kudos to you for actually reading and understanding the SCCA rules.
A lot of people can't do that....

The car will not be street driven much, if at all. I have a lot of fun with my FSP Neon. I can afford a C5 or C6 Vette, but would not enjoy autocrossing it any more than my Neon.

Yeah, now that I think about the various updating and backdating rules, you could probably build a 340 that would be more than enough for a SP prepped A-Body suspension. I guess one question would be do you have to use an original 340 long block or could a much cheaper reproduction be allowed.
I personally don't see the point in building a SP car and not have it be street-driven... that would be half the point of building a auto-x car out of a 'muscle car'... but to each his own...
Most SP cars are not street driven as the are modified beyond what would pass most state inspections, especialy in the area of emmission equipment.
I was thinking of building it because it is different. In ESP (or F-stock for that matter) it is always a Camaro and Mustang show. That is for good reason, but a dart should be light enough and be made to handle well enough to be competitive on a regional level. I already have an FSP Neon, an FSP Dodge Charger and a good, but unmodified 85 RX7 sitting in my garage which could be autocrossed. Heck, I have even autocrossed my Shelby Dakota in F-stock a few times with my daughter before she could drive stick. The Dart would be an exercise in fun and maybe the subject of an article for my wife's newspaper / magazine. This is why I will keep costs to a minimum. I wouldn't mind runnimg F-stock, but I would need an original 340 or 360 car to have any hope of competing.
