Typically, I don't like these shows that are out there where the guys treat cars like widgets, you know, where they just flip cars like real estate and drive up prices for schleps like me.
But I do like this Fast N' Loud show. Their latest promos show they have an upcoming mid 70s GM wagon project. Awesome!
They also have a late Corvair that they got in a group buy (the same group that had the Yugo). You can see it parked in front of the Yugo when they sell it.
They probably won't show it on the show, and they are very unlikely to put any effort into it (I am sure they are fully aware how hard it is to make any money flipping Corvairs) but it will be interesting to see if they show something.
It's definitely one of the better "flipping" shows (it's actually pretty ridiculous how many of them there are now). They seem to do a pretty reasonable job of fixing up most of the cars (Desert Car Kings, and Texas Car Wars are scary bad in that area normally).
I like that it is one "reality" show that eschews fake drama and dickiness for humor. Everyone seems nice and is usually having a good time.
Mean guy that I am, I find it funny that they sometimes get totally smoked when they auction off some of their cars.
Richard finds it funny as well...

No opinion, wifey thinks the head Monkey is creepy.
I'm a fan.
Lots of antics, lots of ridiculous paintjobs, attractive ladies every few episodes.
I like it because Richard knows its a TV show and doesn't try to act like it's all reality. Plus he isn't afraid to spice up an F40.
I like the varied cars they seem to find and flip. I always wonder what the PO of those cars think when they watch the episode(s) where their former car gets changed and sold.
"Hey, we got this NNN for $xxx and sold it for $xxx! Man that guy didn't know what he had. Gas Monkey gets paid!"...
I have a hard time watching reality shows too but its good to see them get hosed sometimes at auction because that happens. Also seeing Mark Cuban getting hustled on TV was awesome. The atmosphere between the workers and shop does seem genuine and good spirits, entertaining and usually showcase some neat cars! I'm a fan but I don't have cable so I try and catch it while on the road for work at hotels.

That's not entirely true, but true in general (it seems).
The whole episode with the F40 seemed like it was pretty "drama'd" up. I am pretty sure the "money" guy was planning on buying it the entire time.
It wouldn't exactly break my heart if'n I'd heard that someone had punched Richard in the throat.
I like Richard Rawlings, isn't he a Hong or a Canadian or both?
They totally screwed up and already screwed up F40 so we'll call that one a wash, and no matter what you do to a fairmont, it's still a fairmont.
I like the show, and Counting Cars too.

I like those two shows too. They don't take themselves seriously and rarely mention catalog parts like most reality car shows. Although there's too much "brother man" going on in counting cars...

I wouldn't be surprised if Sue the upholsterer was just a prop character. I have never seen her do one stitch of upholstery work. Nothing, nada, zip. She's still funny once in a while anyway.

Right on, brother man, right on.
It's OK, but the things that bother me are:
-
For car experts they never actually look underneath a car they are purchasing. Hey here is $30K for your car and when they get to the sop it is 'oh E36 M3 the frame is completely hosed.' Hmm how about using a jack to check out the car first.
-
In one of their first episodes they removed windows on a 1920s era car with a hammer. I am sure that glass would have gotten some money on Ebay. But no I am an expert mechanic so I will use a hammer for effect.

Richard should never, ever, ever go to an auction with no reserve. He never learns and always burns.

Anybody that has his own 'beer assistant' is okay with me. Dennis Collin's, the 'money man' is part owner of Collin's Brothers Jeep. He also has a good time beating his best bud Richard down on the price...and enjoys telling him about it afterwards.
I like Counting Cars as well, although the "in the wind" phrase is used too much. Also, Roli gets away with saying some stuff in front of customers that makes even me cringe.

The Count kind of creeps me out with the head bandanna thingie.
And is Horney Mike for real or is that just for TV?
I like both shows. Met Horny Mike at SEMA last year. Very nice guy. I really want to go to Dallas and go to the Gas Monkey Bar & Grill and see if I can meet Richard. Those guys just look like fun to hang out with.

The funny this is this is exactly the sort of faux drama that's in all the "House Flipper" shows my wife watches on HGTV. Really, you couldn't go in the basement and find all the heat runs covered with asbestos before you bought the house? Really, you didn't realize it had termites when all the base trim was disintegrating and falling off the walls. Those shows are so standardized, I keep threatening to make up HGTV Bingo cards just to make it more interesting. Unfortunately, its the same thing with a lot of these car shows.
It must be in the big, yellow "Reality TV Production for Dummies" book or something.
