I spoke with Hasbro's sister today, and she gave me the sad news that Barry lost his battle with cancer about 3 weeks ago.
Anyone that has been to his Danielsville GA storage Mecca knows that Barry never lacked for passion. He'd sing praises of the beautiful cars on his wall, speak joyfully of the plants and animals that always surrounded him, tell tales of the automotive dreams he had tucked away in his storage units, or sit you down and serve you the finest soup you've ever eaten. Barry was passionate about every person he met, and every minute he had to share with them.
He supplied the chassis for the car I am building, and dreamed of a few laps behind the wheel when it's finished. Barry, I owe you a ride.
Crank up some Lynyrd Skynyrd and enjoy a piece of cheesecake in Barry's honor. And make an appointment today to get your PSA blood screening for prostate cancer.
You are missed, my friend.
Barry Hayes obituary
Damn, that sucks. Every time one of these posts pops up, I think the same thing --- "Damn, I never met the guy, but I feel like I really knew him, just from his posts.". My condolences to his family, friends, and those of you on the forum who knew him personally.
Aw, hell. Alwaysliked that guy. He was cool.
I drove up about a year ago and delivered a few hundred pounds of books about cars he was so excited to get. The dude loved everything sportscars.
Everything SV reX said about PSA tests. My doctor didn't prescribe one since 2013. In the middle of 2022 I guessed something was wrong. Did something about it and am now recovering from the surgery. Good news, Shands says they got it all. Guys don't need to be dying of prostate cancer. Maybe more need to be openly talking about it instead of hiding behind the curtain.

He really wanted to see the "Free" Europa at the Challenge this year. I was gonna offer to drive him.
He put us up for a night on our way to the challenge in 2021.
And of course was a fellow x1/9 nut. Thanks for everything, Barry.
