In my infinite wisdom I have bought a 1/4 share of a rallycross car. Since I end up helping keep it running, I might as well drive it as well.

Meet Dirty, a 1978 Datsun B210.

While it technically breaks my no Nissan rule, it's old enough that I'll let it slide.

Lets just say it's interesting to drive. I did manage to put it in 1st in MR for my 1st outing, so that's a good thing.

It's going to get a little sorting over the winter months. It desperately needs a new seat, some brake work and a smaller steering wheel. We are considering a Lincoln locker as well, since it will never see pavement duty.

Short wheel base, solid axle, and dirt makes for some interesting handling. I spent a lot of time behind the wheel of an AE86 Corolla which is probably similar. You'll come away a better driver whether you want to or not.

I forgot my GoPro at the house yesterday. Videos will be forthcoming next season. I shot a short video with my phone. I'll throw it up here later today.

Reminds me of Roadkill’s latest acquisition. And that’s a good thing!

Very cool. There was a dart (I think) atthe Detroit region rallyx this weekend. Not sure if they were fast or not but one of the best looking cars out there.

A short video for your enjoyment. As an added bonus you get to watch the Crown Vic launch as well.

We may have to do something about the factory exhaust at some point. Dirty is just too quiet.

Sweet! Does it have the A14? I really like those engines for some inexplicable reason.

Not knowing Datsuns very well, all I can say is it's a 4 cylinder of undetermined displacement. The complete nightmare of a carb that was on it has been replaced by a Weber. It runs like a champ. Probably one of the smoothest 4 cylinders I've dealt with.

Not knowing MG's very well, a few years back I bought a '71 MGB with a Nissan 4 cylinder in it. Turned out to be an A14 (which I'm almost positive came from a B210 similar to yours) with a Weber 32/36 dfev carb. I actually really enjoyed that engine in that car; it liked to rev and sounded pretty good doing it.

Looking forward to a video with less muffler!
