FYI to my fellow penny-pinching GRM'ers: Falken Azenis Rt-615's are in stock at Discount Tire Direct in 205/50/15 (40 tires left) at $324/set shipped plus an $80 rebate. That's $244 to your door for four brand-new, still regionally competitive ST-class tires in the most popular Honda/Miata size. They are the "old" compound and not the new "K" (I think). Screaming deal for a tire that's a few tenths off of the RE11's and Star Spec's (with a National-level driver on a National-level car) for less than HALF the price!
I noticed that the other day, I think I am going to get a set for the new wheels I bought for the Supra.
Yup been on sale for months. I just put a set of them in 215/40/17 on my E30.
They were out of the 205/50/15's for a long time, I dunno where they "found" more of them, but I was happy to take 4 of them of their hands!

they've been out of most sizes for several weeks. Vulcan Tire is out also.
I got four for $176 shipped on Black Friday thanks to a tip on this forum. The Azenis isn't my favorite tire, but it can be hard to beat for the price.

What tire do you like better ?
I've got 4 14" Azenis just waiting to go on the Miata thanks to this deal. :)
Too bad they don't make a 215/60r15

Other than the cold/cool weather behavior, I'm partial to the Kumho XS. Haven't tried the full list of EHP tires in person yet. My biggest beef with the Azenis is the rock-hard sidewall. Great for an autocross special, terrible for use outside a parking lot.
Didn't stop me from picking up a set, of course.
Up here in the cold and wet the Azenis still holds it own for most of the year. I don't notice the sidewall thing since 50-series still has a decent sidewall (the 195/60's on the RX-7 were great).

Just checked, the 245 40 18's I need are still $154 a piece :(
I wish someone made a 265/40-16. Or a 245/40-16.

Marty!, I have a nice set of Michelins for $150.00 picked up in Lansing, Mi.
225/45 17s are still $111 each. Shucks.

JB, you've peaked my interest. I'll pm you when I'm back home and on a real 'puter.
Wow the -K compound tires are almost 2x as expensive. Has anyone tried them/seen any comparisons yet?

That e30 must stick something awesome in the corners
BTW: it appears that the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Specs have a $50 rebate on Tire Rack and elsewhere putting them in the same ballpark as the old 615s in the 17" sizes I looked at.

I have a set of RT-215s in a 195/60-14 and some Kumho 711 "black and rounds" in a 205/40-17. Despite the fact that the sidewall is 1.5" shorter on the 711, the car rides better on them. And since the RT-215 heat-cycled out fairly quickly, I think the 711 actually gripped better as well. Granted, I'm judging the RT-615 by the older RT-215, but that's why my main motivation for buying Azenisiseses is price.
The plan for the RT-215s is to turn them into atmospheric pollutants when the MG is rolling.

Not anymore,
195/60/14 = $108/ea
I think I paid $42 for each of the old RT-215s. Still, they do seem to pop up on sale once in a while, and my current RT-615s only cost $44 each shipped. I wouldn't have paid $100+ for 'em.

d'oh. Yoko Advan AD07s were on clearance at tire rack for $99/each in 225/45/18. i picked up five (gotta have a spare for those out-of-production tires!).
