Accent looks better
We bought a '08 Fit Sport 5 speed new for $15,500. Today after over 76K miles the only repair or replacement needed other than two sets of tires & an oil change every 7,500 miles was a battery last month. The car is now assessed for tax purposes at $7,775 and still gets over 35 miles mpg as a DD, and near 40mpg on a trip where we normally set the cruise at 78 mph on the freeways.
I have trouble imagining how any ride could turn in a better return on investment as a DD. And it fun to drive and so easy to park. I haven't driven the newest one but I hear it is bigger inside. Not that I thought it needed to be. I do agree it seems they are trying to make it look more like a Tour de France riders helmet than a car.
In another couple of years or around 125,000 miles we'll probably sell it and get another. We usually sell our Hondas at about 125,000 miles, before they need any repair work.

Boy does that surprise me! Here in Greater Appalachia typically the fastest drivers on the freeway are in Japanese cars. Typically the faster drivers are either young girls/women under 25 or so or are people who appear to be over 50. I often wonder why so many younger men, typically with loud exhaust piped cars or pickups, don't drive at least the speed limit.
We usually the cruise at 78mph on the freeway and get passed by Japanese cars often. By BMWs, M.B.s, Vettes, Porches, pickups, etc., almost never.

Its because they just got a fat ticket.
Seriously, I believe camry's are nearly ticket-proof. You just never look like you're going fast in a camry.

It seems that Honda is doing better at this than Toyota. Vomit.
That rolling abomination is the 2016 Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel vehicle. It's inexplicable how this body design ever got approved to go into production. It's as if two or three different vehicles were photoshopped together and then rendered in 3D.
Then this shows up on BAT. When cars looked like....wait for it....cars.

Sooooo, are you saying that you think the new Fit looks similar to an '83 Civic S? Is that what you are saying? IS THAT WHAT YOU ARE SAYING?????
Most new car styling is pretty bad IMHO. Instead of organic shapes with a bit of restraint, stylists have gone all crazy with the "surface excitement"---- ie the new Fit, and whatever that horrible Toyota thing is that was posted above. It's like Toyota took the ugliest parts from it's (pretty darn ugly) Supra replacement and tacked them onto a Corolla.
I'm not sure why automotive stylists thought that having a grille like this guy was a good idea:

Just a guess, but maybe because that's what they grew up looking at? I always figured that was the reason that so many youngsters like the looks of those horrible body kits they put on their cars.

So you are saying that all of todays 5 door hatches look similar? You are not saying that all of todays 5 door hatches look similar to an '83 Civic S ( a 3 door, BTW)??? Is that what you are not saying, or is it what you are saying???
I didn't even get down to the Civic before i posted that.
So i was just saying that today's 5 door hatches look similar.
I like this discussion that we're having more than the new Fit, though. We should continue.
If we turn subject back to the 83 Civic that may or may not have a similar look to today's 5 door hatches despite being a 3 door, would you have more to say?

This. They are both incredibly ugly. The new one seems like it has more power and is less likely to roll over. Seems like a win in my book.

Well. That depends. Are you saying that an 83 Civic does have a similar look to today's 5 door hatches???? Or are you saying that an 83 Civic does not have a similar look to today's 5 door hatches???? What are you saying????
