I know the tow package typically comes with a limited slip rear, which is great in the snow. Not that you need to worry about that too much.
I have had both a 350 and an LT1 powered Roadmaster and much preferred the power of the LT1. But they were strictly unmodified cars and I don't mind a few hundred bucks extra in parts here or there. Both of them were stone cold reliable and comfy ass cars. I miss mine, too. Sadly the friend that I sold it to traded it in on a new Hyundai. :-(
I never towed with either of the Roadmasters.
Are you sure the LT1 commands that much of a premium? I've seen them in the $1000 - $2500 range a lot around here.
