Any one done a V6 to V8 swap on a 2014- up GM truck?

Probably Cheaper and easier to sell the v6 truck and buy the v8 truck

That's not a very GRM reply.  We're here to enable and give support regardless of how stupid a project is smiley

I'm sure it can be done.  Just find a donor truck in a junkyard and take the whole driveline.... 6.2, 6L90, driveshaft (assuming it has the same rear), wiring, ECM.  You would have to dig into it further, but it's possible your ECM is the same as a V8 truck and you would just have to reflash it.  Either way, it will need reflashing so the truck can talk to the ECM.  They don't play well together unless you do.

Lots of work.  You may find that you have to take the entire cab off the frame.  They tuck those so far back under the dash that it might not fit without it.

Have not purchased a truck yet. Just wondering in the event that I bought a v6 truck and was not pleased with it. My 2005 Silverado still does what I need it to at 310k miles, but the body is starting to look a little rough. Therefore I was starting to look at the market. I probably will just buy a 5.3 truck and be done with it. I know that I will want to do a DOD delete regardless.

According to this thread, there isn't as much hp difference between the 4.3 and the 5.3 as there used to be in the 2014+ trucks.

I guess the question might be what you plan to do with it.  They're honestly not that different on the hp/tq.  Certainly not enough difference that I would go to the trouble of a swap when you could likely throw a tune on the V6 and get a few more out of it.

4.3 LV3 makes 285hp/305tq.  The 5.3 LMG makes 310/330.  I might wager that they will do the 1/4 mile in about the same amount of time since the V6 is probably lighter.  Consumers report that there is only about a 1 mpg difference between the two, dancing around 16 and 17.

As long as you're not planning on towing 10,000 lbs, I would be happy with either.  If you want to go zoomy, get the 6.2L

If you do some sort of forced induction, be aware that (although direct injection helps) you're already at 11:1 which limits the boost.  I keep waiting for someone to make an adjustable wastegate that feeds off the flex fuel sensor.  I have a sweet 11.3:1 LS that I would love to boost, but it could only take boost with lots of ethanol.  If I could just inform a wastegate what it's working with....

The 2014 5.3 ( 8th of vin C) is listed as 355 hp/ 383 tq. I will take the 78 extra on torque over the 4.3. Truck is not a daily, I have a Hyundai for that. Towing is at least once a month. Car trailer sometimes with a tractor is the highest load scenario. Also out of state trips with a surprisingly draggy enclosed trailer. Thanks for the input! The search is V8 only now, 2014-16, 1/2 ton and extended cab not crew. The crew cab eats up too much bed on the 1/2 ton trucks. 6-1/2 > 5-3/4.
