Yesterday morning my fiance put her first car into a tree. She is fine, but going to get her back looked at this morning. There was the initial worry of how to get a new car, as she only had liability and is not financially well off. I was about to co-sign for her or just get myself a new car and hand her my neon.

The friend-of-the-family that sold her the car in the first place buys and sells a lot of hondas on the side. Turns out he has a '91 Civic DX with only 125K that he will sell to her for $700, on payments. And he will buy back the wrecked civic for parts. Turns out as bad as yesterday morning was, things worked out rather well.

Not always, but the odds are in their favor.

The tree was about 12" and dead, it broke into 3 pieces. Mr. Fey, the guy buying/selling will give her $400 for the wrecked civic. I might just be all sweet and stuff and front the remaining $300.

Co-signing a loan for anybody is just asking for trouble. Fronting a decent GF 300.00 is far better. That's piss away money, no biggie if she books, and she will treat you quite well in thanks, I'm sure.
