Time to adhere the mount base to my helmet. Straight up on top like a propellor beanie? Slightly aft? On the forehead like the Great Gazoo? Off to one side at a rakish angle?

I put mine on the right side near my ear. That way when my head hits the window on a good bounce it doesn't break anything. Including my head.
I mounted mine on the front of the helmet, in front of my chin, looking forward. It's more compact, but I don't know how video looks because I didn't record anything for some reason the day I did it.
I recommend not having the camera on top of your helmet because at just 70 mph, it starts to pull on and strain your neck if it's exposed to the wind.
I'm probably only going to use it in my helmet for karting. If I'm going 70, it will probably be mounted to the car.
Well, I ended up putting it right on the crown of my head, as far forward as it can sit and still clear the face shield when I open it up. We'll see the results tomorrow. Thanks for the input.
Sticky mount I put it on the front of the forehead on the helmet. I have even taken the suction cup mount and stuck it to the side of the helmet.

I have my mount on the forehead. Works great for karts. Not in the car.

Yeah, that looks good. On the plus side, it may actually stick up over the windshield header when I'm in the Miata. But as I said, if I'm in a car, I expect the cam will be mounted to the car, not my head.
Added videos to my above post with my experience with the GoPro on my dome.
A quick suggestion on mounting the camera to the car..... put it where you can see the steering wheel. We always say the most time is found by improving the driver, so being able to see what you're doing and how the car reacts is important. Just putting it on the header gives a great view of the course, but you really don't know whats going on in the car. I know that when I got a camera, reviewing my runs and seeing how E36 M3ty my steering wheel habits were was a big eye opener.
