Your response might be the sort of good hints to include in your instructions.

JK. Good to know about lifting from the seatbelt mounts.

Ok folks....tried to read through most of the post but 36 pages is a little long in the tooth! My Exo Race chassis is in the pipe and I am waiting as patiently as I can. Order form sent 12/26 and check a day or so later. I am really looking forward to getting going on this one. I have a little experience with Miata's as I have owned 15 in the last 4 years. I also built an LS powered Miata "Nadine" that I just sold to fund the Exo.

Warren, Is there any news on the full windshield mount for the Race chassis? I know it will be like pushing a barn door through a tornado but I really want the full Halo of the race with safety glass. Getting the mount built in before you powder coat just feels right. Not to be a P-I-T-A but I am hoping this wont delay the order.....My deadline is a running driving 4 cyl build by Father's Day and then the swap to the next LS-1 with the supercharger some time after. Thanks in advance!

Hey Meierz, the surround is already designed and should not add much time to your kit. We're cranking these out as fast as we can, but we won't sacrifice quality in the name of production rate.

I'll have to check tomorrow (I don't directly deal with sales), but I'm pretty sure the # of cars ordered is in the 70s! The roads are going to get crowded with these things.

I had hoped to someday convert my LS1 Miata into an Exocet but family and work leave me no time for the project. The car remains an excellent candidate. I'm hopeful another enthusiast might finish the dream. Bill S., Everett, WA

Well, we got all three jig tables lined up this morning, but Atlanta shuts down when it snows, so we took a snow day. Some serious business happened, too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpZzhb-S0kA

I know you're joking, but it really is nuts. People here have no clue how to drive in low-traction situations. Fizzix, what's that? The roads are simply impassable. Kevin actually had to ditch his car because a two-lane road got blocked by a Panamera driver that got stuck and just walked off. I'm getting messages from friends on Facebook that spent 8+ hours driving less than 10 miles. When I got to my apartment, I took a walk and saw at least a half-dozen wrecks happen in less than 30 minutes.

This is Google Maps right now, at midnight:

Someone hit a fire hydrant, hilarity ensued:

I was kidding but some of those pics are crazy! We have our share of bad drivers too. Most think that because their SUV has 4wd they can race along at 65 in 3" of wet snow with ice under it. They find out quickly that stopping is a whole different story... then I come along with my plow, salt/sand, and a tow strap and for a nominal fee I will tug them out of the median. Pennies from Heaven!

what is recommended wheel size & offset for new fenders? Im planning on 225 45 15 hoosiers in back 205 50 hoosiers in front & 205 50 15 hoosier wets on rainy days. I currently have 8 9" 6ULs & 4 10" 6ULs . My street tires are 205 50 15 kuhmo front on 9s 225 50 15 kuhmos in rear on 10s. Im thinking I need to part with the 10s & get some 8s? Have you found the limits yet?

How much weight and power are you targeting? R6 or A6 compound? Stock Miata powerplants probably won't find much speed past 205s. The turbo Exocets that have been on track so far have been faster with 205s over 225s. I would highly discourage a staggered setup, as the weight balance is about 52%F with driver. You'd have to run very low tire pressures in the rear.

Up to about 300whp, I'd run 7.5-8" wheels with zero offset and 205s. 15" diameter with a 50% aspect ratio will be perfect.

What would you run for a 550 hp supercharged V8? This is not an idle question, the next Exocet to come out of the FM shop is going to be epic.

225 NT01s all around and an ignition lockout under for temperatures under 50F. Also a diaper pad on each seat.

We talked about using the torque limiting program in the PCM to limit throttle opening to about 10%. It's waaaay too much engine, but I think that's part of the fun for the customer. After all, most Cobra replicas don't need 600 hp big blocks either...

For $500, I'll custom-engineer a lightweight natural-composite torque limiter that is easily enabled or disabled via simple temporary installation behind the torque-demand subassembly. For an additional $50 I'll throw in a hook-and-loop permanent-adhesive-backed retention mechanism.

My plan was A6 autocross R6 track & Hoosier wets for rainy days. Not a big HP car (for now). Key is I already have multiple sets of Staggerd 6ULs. As well as Hoosiers. Im trying to sort what is usable & what i should sell. Unfortunately i was planning more power for my Miata before I decided Exocet is the answer so ive got what ive got. Do 9" 6uls clear with 225 45 15s under new fenders? For next year I will go 205s all around all 3 compounds (R6 A6 & Wets) on 8" wheels. Guess I have 4 10" 6 ULs that need a home.

You should be able to get near retail on 6ULs right now. Big shortage.

Fun story: one of my FSAE buddies ordered an Exocet last year. His build date is up, and so he wanted to help build his car. He's on the right. Gives me fuzzies.

On that note, we keep moving around the welding stations to find their optimum positions. I think we've got them where we want them now, so I'm finally going to hang the curtains that have been sitting in their packages for months. Our production area is about to get a lot more red.
