Run that drawing by your glass shop. They may not be impressed with trying to cut the inside curve. It might not be a possible shape - or, if they have to use alternate cutting methods, an expensive one.

It shouldn't be hard to find a shop to cut a flat windshield cut out of safety glass, including the required stamp.

Keith you may be right. The other option is to do a basic windshield and then replace it with lexan after I pass SB100.

Sanders did my glass and it was very similar. Also fast service and inexpensive. They use waterjet cutting so the shape is not really a problem although I would give it some radius at the inside corner. http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/reader-rides/10571/

What were the British Exocets windscreens like? Guessing they won't work on a US spec exocet?

One thing I've learned racing open cockpit cars with low height windshields is to make it easy to remove or adjustable (up/down) so it allows short/tall drivers flexibility as they sit lower/higher in the seat and have a different vantage point (where the end of the windshield might impede vision).

In fact my race this weekend I had this issue driving a car setup for a shorter driver and I had trouble seeing past the windshield with me having to move my head up / down depending on the corner and elevation (such as with downhill corners I would sit lower and bend my neck some so I could see through the windshield, but for uphill corners I'd sit as tall as I could and look over the top of the windshield, and for this one corner I had to sit up and bend the windshield down with my hand every lap so I could see the apex. To make it more difficult it was a busy track with lots of traffic.

I prefer not having a windshield at all but PA law requires I install one.

My buddy used that shop for glass in a hotrod. I'm close & have my Exocet 1/2 done. I would like to see Exomotives solution first, but im perfect candidate to talk to them even if I am taking my car for a test fit for your design.

I just picked up my donor, it's actually really nice and I kind of feel bad tearing it apart. Oh well, time to get this exo going.

Don't worry, destruction is good. This is my favorite customer-supplied photo:

And yes, the windshield stuff is more complicated than it seems, at least when it's not a one-off and you want to offer it as a product. It's the top item on my list after bodywork production ramps up.

Exocet Donor available:

I know this guy fairly well - good dude and honest. He has a Miata salvage parts business here in Central FL. His name is Esteban and his warehouse is located in Kissimmee, not far off the Turnpike.

That's funny I was looking at that shell on craigslist the other day. I bought a 94 to be my donor and started thinking... what if I sell the 94 and snag that 03. Then I stated thinking about the vvt and all and figured it would just be more simple to work with what I have. I have my last project car up for sale now, when someone buys the motor I will be looking at a kit. Anyone know anyone looking for a 400+whp volvo or drivetrain?

Prett sure its sold. Talked to the guy on Friday. He said he had someone lined up but would let me know. Never heard back so its safe to assume.

Warren.....can you publish what chassis number is in welding for those of us that have chewed their fingernails down to the second knuckle waiting? I hate to even say this but my ADHD has me looking at an old FED chassis and thinking of going back to drag racing. My wife will kill me! PLEASE, save a soul

So this was as of April 23rd:

Warren v wrote: 16 as of today. That was a busy week.

Average 3 frames/week, so a little over 5 weeks. So my frame should have been built right about last week?

I'm guessing there was some sliding in the schedule. Emphasis on "guessing" since info@exomotive is still answering my emails.

Yep, I'm still the one complaining. I don't really like being in this position. I'm really fed up with it actually. Not sure if it's because storing my donor is becoming a problem, or because my builder availability is no longer there, or because it's now obvious I won't have be driving the car this year...

PM me with your name and/or serial number, I can tell you where you are on the docket.

I'm probably overstepping my bounds here, but you guys deserve an explanation. I hate making excuses, but I will say that we submitted a 30-car order of steel, projected to be complete by early May. We had weeks of buffer in case of delays, but as of today, we still have 2248 (of of 6905) parts remaining to pick up (yes, I have an up-to-the minute count). At our new production rate, we recently ran out of tubes while waiting for the next production run. We are planning on a final pickup tomorrow night or early Friday morning. Shortly after our order was submitted, our lasercutter started to move their laser operations into a new building, and then to make things worse, they had supply issues with DOM that didn't test as specified. To the guys at the steel processor that will undoubtedly read this: I love you guys, you're working hard, but this situation has put us in a bind.

It sucks. We've been spending a lot of time trying to fix it. If we don't have production up and running by Friday, I fear Kevin's famous ginger-rage will be unleashed upon this world.

To prevent this from happening in the future, we are ordering 50 sets of tubes right after these next 30 get in our shop. We even built JIT-style racks to hold all the stock, too. Thankfully, production was going very smoothly (up until we ran out of tubes), and there weren't any major changes that add complexity. In fact, this order has a new rear tophat that is a little bit easier to build, looks cooler, reduces weight, increases stiffness, and also allows for MOAR LOW for those that insist upon roll centers well into the lithosphere.

Any news on bodywork?

Xzone

6/12/14 4:14 p.m.

It took about 28 weeks to get my frame (ordered when it said 14 week turn around on the website) so I wouldn't hold much to any date provided as it's also going on 40 weeks plus and I am still waiting on body work so I can finally finish this car. It's at the point I'm telling anyone interested at my local track, I have to go and just watch now since I tore my Miata down expecting a 14 week turn around last year and can't finish the Exocet without the body panels, to not even think about ordering until there is at least one Exocet somewhere finished with the new bodywork since there is no guarantee when/if ever it will be done. Had I known this was going to be the time frame I probably wouldn't be as angry but none of this was known to me or listed in any official form until it was past the expected dates and I tore the Miata down.

As much as I like at least getting a response on the forums here, I hope to see some sort of official statement on your website, facebook, or anywhere buyers would actually find it on the current state and progress of the body work, expectations, company, anything. This is just getting ridiculous being this out of the loop 10 months in with no updates on your website stating what is going on and no information about these delays to potential buyers. I hope anyone thinking of ordering does research and sees the information in this forum as none of this was here when I ordered and it could make a huge impact on someone's decision.

In reply to Xzone:

Not much I can say other than: we personally feel the heat, there have been many challenges, and we're working our nads off.

I know it ain't done until it's done, but we're getting closer to production every day. The new fiberglass guy is dialing in our new sprayup equipment on the old UK molds, and I'm currently bringing the production molds up from a deep wetsand.
