A lot of spring? You may not be compressing the spring enough with the weight of the car. Or the spring may not be tall enough. You may need the helper springs to "load" the suspension.

Possible on all counts. They are off the shelf lengths, but 550lb in front, 500lb in rear. No helper springs.

Car weighed in at 2600lbs last year, it's probably around 2550 now. Figure a 63/47 f/r split.

I remember using a jack to lift the driver's side of my 626 off the ground to do a front/back tire rotation (factory directional wheels, whee) and the jack had to be pretty far forward to balance the car. I doubt the MX-6 is much different.
