The backstory was, it was done as a kind of experiment to see how much power a Tecumseh lawnmower carb and intake could allow, as there was a kart race series with no engine limit except must use stock carb/manifold and everyone believed that there was no point to modifying the engines.
The engine made 500hp with a 4-barrel.
I don't know about HP, but it should make a poop load of torque up to 1500(?) rpm. Compared to the lawnmower at least.
I might have laughed hard enough at that pic for the neighbors to hear. I'm shocked you could get it to run, let alone do 4000rpm.
47 HP.
Wait a minute... Is that in a car on a chassis dyno? If so I didn't take drive line losses into account.
300hp, it didn't make it to 5252 rpm so about half of its power at 4000,I'm suprised the carb was big enough to pull that high or that they could get that much Fuel in it.
What hp tecumseh did the carb come from ?
Going to guess if from a 8 hp motor, the 454 would only spin to 2000 loaded, and say about 55 hp.

You're really close. 60hp at 2500rpm.
I am shocked that the lawnmower carb could move 60hp worth of fuel!
So if you went with a smaller engine, you would probably get more power due to a higher RPM range. I wonder what a 2 litre 4 would do.. even a geo metro 3
By my math, if you put 1 carb per cylinder, you could have a 440hp 454 with itbs.....
For about 96 bucks. Carbs are 12 bucks on ebay....

This is amazing and needs to be tried. Maybe even make a manifold with 12 of em for the WTF factor.

I was thinking about a spider-like ring of lawnmower carbs.
BTW - This is not my doing! I found it on another forum.
