Its happening in a shop somewhere in So Cal.
Given that you can find Boxsters with blown motors for under $4000 if practical conversion comes together this is an awesome combo. Car is much better suited to V8 than a 914. Weight of aluminum block LS series V8's arent too much more than Porsche watercooled motors. Cars are plumbed for water cooling etc.
This would turn the "porsche in panties" into a real car.
It was only a matter of time before 914 guys with V8 conversion experience started getting their hands on cheap 10 year old boxsters with blown motors. We have been talking about this for years. I think this is one of the first real efforts to do a V8 Boxster conversion. Guy doing this has tons of expereince with Porsche conversions. Appears it will work. I think adapter plate is in the works. There is already an expensive adapter plate that will allow you to bolt an GM V8 to new generation Porsche tranny. I think goal of this build will be to develop some cost evffective conversion pieces. From what I read they need to move to electric water pump and get accessories off the front of the motor to clear fire wall.
My track car will be in line if they get it figured out. Boxster has far better suspension and ability to put down power than 914's with V8's. Boxsters wider stance etc would make putting down 350 to 400 HP more straight forward.
Uh, there isn't much difference between the cars other than the roof.
Personally I'd rather cruise in an open topped boxster than a closed top coxster!
from the look of the intake manifold thats an LS2 which is bery nice. I likey and would rather have that than an LSx miatar
Hear that? It's the sound of Boxster project car pricing going up.
I'd do this in a heartbeat....

Much harder to find Caymans under $4K. 10 year old Boxsters are a dime a dozen. You can buy running Boxsters for under $8K now and I have seen Boxsters with blown motors go for as litle as $2500. Tough to find Caymans with blown motors since they have lower miles and newer engines seem to be a little better built than the early motors.
However Cayman would be the best platform for this type of conversion. Next best would be a Boxster S with 6 speed tranny.
Nice. I would drive it.
There is this: GRM Classified shameless plug which is sorta along the same lines, but better because it's not a boxster.
