Was it too good to be true?
A little more than a year ago, our initial test of the Vitour Tempesta P1 rocked our amateur motorsports world. Here was a new tire that was clearly faster than everything else out there, yet it was made by a company unknown in our circles and shepherded by a man with a history …

I'm going to give them a shot this year. Legal in all the classes I run. The real concern is how long they live at this point.

Nice to have more tire options (and availability!) going into 2025.
Awesome results Andy!
Thank you for the kind words.
I have been sitting on the edge of my seat for weeks.
Great to hear you got multiple fast laps. Your results sound consistent with what myself and others have been seeing and saying all year.
This is a huge advantage in time attack compared to the previous gold standard A052!
Looking forward to the long term results!
Fast, good heat tolerance, and good treadwear? Going to be hard to beat the Vitour P1.

So many acronyms, so little time.
It's a golden age for performance tires.
And my crystal ball sees more on the horizon...

Great Job and fantastic read. The results are really impressive. In the test that Dallas and I have performed on the corvette platform over the past year. We to noticed this longevity on track and with nearly a 4000 lb car this really pays off while I was able to be slightly faster on the A052 on a track i knew on tracks I didn' t know it gave me the time to learn and I was able to drive faster and log hundreds of laps before they fell off this is a huge change for my Big Fat Vette. For rookie drivers this is a game changer. I look forward to your long term test results. I hope they last even longer than they did on the Z06. I'm very glad to have a shot to compete on these this year as it will lower my tire budget. I think Dallas has his website up there pay him a visit and see you at the track. :)
So Andy, what was your take on the P1 for autocross? "Grip also came in fairly quickly," sounds promising. You should join us at the next Spokes/SASCA event and show us how they do ;)
Glad Dallas got his due credit. When he took over promoting the P1's he took a lot of crap from everyone used to dealing with his predecessor, including from me. He has been nothing but honest and above board and scratched and clawed credibility back to the brand. Even with last second maneuvering from certain unmentionables.
I'm glad to be torture testing a set of P1's in XB this year. With me still learning and setting up the car, they will definitely get beat upon. Looking to do 8-10 local autocrosses, a couple hillclimbs, Summit Autocross Week, 2 Solo Tour events, and maybe Nats with them this year. Hope to have my ES Miata and HCS MGA on sets next year or the year after, though I have new 71RS' for both this year and will be concentrating on XB.
Good read....now I can be comfortable using a set of P1s on the Challenge car instead of Hohos. @Dallas...just be sure those 285/30/15 weenies are still available about a year from now .

On a typical CenTex summer day (i.e 80-110 degrees), should be perfect.
I was going to make the switch from 660s to a052 for this year in autocross. However this has me eyeballing the P1s.
Why do they come in goofy slight under sizes for wide 15s? If anything I want a taller tire for my car not shorter

How about on the Canadian Atlantic coast? :)

I appreciate all the work you did to legitimize the product through licensed and legal business work, and doing all the right things, along with the understanding that most people's hang ups were with the shady antics of the now-banned original importers, and not the tires themselves (at least beyond the tangentially related issues like the M&S rating and future date codes).
I wish you the best of luck in your operation and hope that the aforementioned chuckleheads stop trying to screw with you and Vitour now that they are rightfully back in the persona non grata zone.

The thought was geometry and gearing advantage with the short sizes.
Having ran all of the 15 inch options myself. The Vitour 305/15 and 285/15 are far ahead of any of the other 200tw options.
There will be normal height sizes this year.
I am not concerned about Vitour meeting up with demand. At all. We're ready.
My question is why does the Americas Vitour Tire website claim to be expecting tires in February 2025. Otherwise great article Andy! It's a shame they aren't street touring legal in autoX yet or else I'd be running some.

Thanks. Super happy with the quality of the data for this one, and Dallas was a great help in confirming lots of bits of history that were anecdotal/surmised up until then.
Dallas can answer more definitively on AVT, but the gist of it is they are not wanting to exit quietly -- or at least not all of the key players. There is not unified leadership or decisionmaking within AVT. What you read may not be what you get, since much of that was written before the official exit decision.

In my particular case, I am already gearing/rpm limited, I rather have effectively taller gearing to raise my available speed per gear and a side benifit taller tire offers a longer contact patch. I have torque to spare.
Is there any 225/50 or 245/40 (size i run now) coming down the pike?
I'm a little different in my 15" tire needs,I checked with my Canadian region regarding running an HS car with P1's and as long as the tire is stamped 200tw I can run it.
Being in HS and a 110hp car with max of 6" wheel width a 195-50 would likely be a better fit then the usual 205-50's.
With the colder temps here spring/fall the compound starts to be a bigger factor.
I'm open to receiving a deal on P1's to be the 1st stock class tester lol.
I will have 195/55/15 and 205/50/15 at the end of the month. 225/45/15 245/40/15 275/35/15 are planned, no firm ETA but I would bet these will be prioritized.
The official stance is that AVT will not be receiving the new tire sizes. No new inventory has been sent to them in months, and nothing is currently on its way.
Given their history of acting in their own self-interest and being uncooperative, it’s clear that issues persist. For example, the person managing their website and Facebook page seems to be in denial about the current situation. Despite being instructed multiple times, they continue to take preorders, fail to store inventory in a way that meets the manufacturer's standards, violate MAP pricing, misuse the Vitour trademark, etc.
When it comes to preorders, I am under the impression there are not many, and it’s likely they will either cancel and refund them or have the orders drop-shipped from Indianapolis. However, I would remain doubtful about seeing any meaningful cooperation or noticeable changes until a formal agreement is in place. There has been progress, albeit slow.
Dallas, this website should probably be updated. Unless a typo, all the ETA for pre-orders state 2024.
Another comment on sizes. I'm grateful to see that there will be at least one tire for 16 inch wheels, for those of us that run in street class autocross.
Tire height and width information would be useful. I currently run on a Bridgestone RE71rs in 225/50-16, and I'm not sure that a 205/45 will work.
That's interesting. I wish they were offered in sizes for my C7 Z07.

Thats fantastic! If the 245/40 comes out by early March Ill grab a set
Fixed the preorder dates on the website, I just checked and the shipment is scheduled to arrive in Indianapolis 1/31/25 and I expect all of the preorders on vitourp1.com to arrive at customer doors during the first week of February.
C7 Z07 - You should be running 345s on all four
The hot Corvette setup has been 295 or 315 front, 345 rears. This combination has been shipped out probably more than anything at this point.
I suspect on stock wheels 285/35/19 325/30/20 would work well
Yes the 16 inch size was so you guys weren't left out specifically.
